The event is suppose to take place at the Los Angeles Convention Center from May 11th to the 13th. We can't wait to see what Sega has in store for us and patiently waiting the Sepetember 2nd release date of new Sega hardware. Make sure you have lots of extra batteries on your walkman or Game Gear!
Five new games to keep your Genesis plugged in for -- March 28th, 1995
So Sega is readying itself to release the successor to the Sega Genesis, titled the Sega Saturn, but that doesn't mean that the console is dead. We will be listing five Sega Genesis games that will define 1995. We won't even have to use 32x and Sega CD, in case you guys don't have the new add-ons.
5. Mortal Kombat 3 by Midway Games
Mortal Kombat defined the maturity of the Sega Genesis and the 3rd game seems like a great closing chapter for the franchise. The game is set to introduce up to seven new playable characters. Sadly a lot of the fan favorites have been missing, but if the last two Mortal Kombat games are anything to go by, this game will bloody satisfy fans.
The game is set to release later this month on the SEGA Genesis, don't miss it!
4. Alien Soldier by Treasure co. Ltd.
The developers behind the awesome Gunstar Heroes just released Alien Storm and if you haven't bought it, you are missing out. This game is another take on the run and gun formula that most fans loved in Gustar Heroes and takes it in a new direction. Like boss battles? This game has plenty.
This game has short bursts of fun and actually has more bosses than it has stages. It has 25 stages with 31 bosses total. Yeah, pretty crazy.
3. Earthworm Jim 2 by Shiny Entertainment
Hey, we like run and gun platforming games and we like the style of Earthworm Jim. Not just us, but so do all of America. So much so that Earthworm Jim is getting his own television cartoon come this September.
Don't be left out in the Earthworm Jim craze, pick up the first game if you haven't and make sure to look out for Earthworm Jim 2 when it comes out this holiday season.
2. Comix Zone by Sega Technical Institute
Sega Technical Institute has made a name for itself after helping Sonic Team create Sonic the Hedgehog 2, considered one of the best platformers of this generation and later created the fun side project Sonic Spinball. Well now they are branching away from Sonic and working on Comix Zone.
The game has you play as a musician and comicbook artist called Sketch Turner who after his pages are struck by lighting has his book's villain come to life and puts him in the 'Comix Zone'. Now you have to survive, but can you?
Make sure you don't miss this game in August when it makes it debut. The game looks great and really looks like your playing a comic book.
1. Vectorman by BlueSky Software
We know that the gaming press can't stop talking about the pre-rendered 3D graphics from last year's Donkey Kong Country. Well, Sega already has their new game that will make Donkey Kong Country's graphics look primitive and that game is Vectorman! This action platformer takes place in 2049 where humans have left earth and robots are left to clean up our mess. As a evil robot dictator called Warhead is born, claiming to be the ruler of Earth. Yeah, right?! Not if you can stop him.
Vectorman is heading to a Sega Genesis near you this holiday season. Make sure to pick up a copy and start shooting!
Rumor: Sonic Team working on a new mascot for Sega Saturn -- March 13th, 1995
I just received a tip from a insider over at Sega of America that Sonic Team is in the planning stages of an all new mascot for the next Sega Saturn console. The new mascot is said to be purple, have the ability of flying and going inside people's dreams.
We don't have all the details, but according to our source this new game will not be related or take place anywhere in the Sonic universe. I guess new generation, new characters?
