Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem gets new trailers and screenshots

Nintendo and Atlus have continued their partnership by showing off a couple of new trailers and screenshots for the upcoming Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem crossover game (being tentatively titled Genei Ibun Roku #FE).

One of the new trailers (above) shows off Tsubasa Oribe, a new playable character created for this game. Honestly the Japanese trailer just left me with more questions, but I guess its nice to see Oribe in a lot of different outfits?

Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem trailer shows that the game does indeed still exist

Back in January 2013, Nintendo announced that they were working together with Atlus to make a Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem cross-over game for Wii U. Since then they hadn’t shown anything of this project, but today Nintendo finally shared the first trailer featuring a first look at the game’s cutscenes and gameplay on Nintendo Direct.

The game, which is now titled Geiei Bungoku #FE in Japan, will be released this winter. It’ll be released in the US and Europe as well, though they didn’t say what the game’s English title will be nor when we can expect the game to launch in those territories. It was also confirmed that the game is being developed by Atlus. And while the game will feature various Fire Emblem characters, it seems like the characters on the Shin Megami Tensei side will be original.

Atlus publishing Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains in the west

The Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem trailer wasn’t the only thing Atlus revealed on Nintendo Direct last night. It was also revealed that they’ll be publishing Attack on Titan: Humanity in Chains in both North America and Europe. The game will be released exclusively on the 3DS eShop in May.

This isn’t the first we’ve heard of Atlus’ localization. The Australian Classification Board leaked that it’d be released in Australia back in October last year. To coincide with this announcement, Nintendo released the first two episodes of the Attack on Titan anime on the eShop.

SEGA posts sales profits despite having fewer sales

SEGA-Sammy has posted their detailed financial report for the last six months, spanning from April to September 2015. If you guys didn’t know, April 1st is when SEGA’s massive restructure happen and around June is when SEGA of America did their big move. Not only that but the company hasn’t been releasing as much software as they used to, but they still manage to make profit even with a decrease in sales.

SEGA-Sammy reports 1.2 billion in net sales, which happens to be a decrease of 2.5% over the same six month period in 2014, where they reported over 1.3 billion. Yet SEGA-Sammy posted a profit of $7.9 million, compared to losing $23 million in 2014.

SEGA-Sammy said that digital games just happen to be one of the big money makers for the company which happen to them get out of the red. What games did good? Lets look.

Atlus is handling Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE localization

TokyoMirageSessionsIt seems that some Nintendo fans aren’t too thrilled with Nintendo of America’s liberties when it comes to localization. Not only that, Nintendo of America has changed characters and/or removed content in the American versions of the recent Fire Emblem. If you were looking forward to the Nintendo Wii U Shin Megami Tensei and Fire Emblem inspired Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE, fear not! Nintendo has confirmed via Gematsu that Atlus was in charge of localizing Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE!

Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE was localized by Atlus in a way that is consistent with the localization work they do on games they publish. It was a priority to ensure the game feels familiar and appeals to longtime Atlus fans. Any changes made to the in-game content were due to varying requirements and regulations in the many different territories Nintendo distributes its products.”

SEGAbits Round Table: Our Favorite SEGA Games of 2014

It has been an interesting year for SEGA games. During the first few months of 2014, Western SEGA fans had very little when it came to new games, while those in Japan enjoyed the puzzle mashup Puyo Puyo Tetris and the Yakuza spinoff Ryu ga Gotoku: Ishin!. Thankfully, those in the West had Alien: Isolation and Platinum Games’ Bayonetta 2 to look forward to, and in early February it was revealed that Sonic Boom would be releasing to the Wii U and 3DS. Another reveal came, much to the delight of the Hatsune Miku fanbase, with the announcement that Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA F 2nd was set for a Western release in November. Meanwhile, fans of Relic Entertainment and The Creative Assembly’s real time strategy PC titles were treated to Total War: Rome II DLC and Company of Heroes 2 standalone expansions Ardennes Assault and The Western Front Armies.

Suffice it to say, the year has been mixed but not a disappointment. While certain blue hedgehogs failed to give us a good game, fans who step outside their comfort zone of Sonic and traditional SEGA games will find several great titles from SEGA. Atlus CEO hints at future SEGA collaborations

If you have been living under a rock and didn’t know that SEGA bought out Atlus’ parent company Index Holding last year, now you know! In a recent interview with Famitsu, Atlus CEO Naoto Hiraoka and representative director and president Yukio Sugino talked about all things Atlus including their relationship with SEGA.

One of the topics was next generation consoles and Yukio Sugino went on to say:

“Compared to Atlus, Sega are on a much bigger scale [as developers], and our respective know-how is completely different. They’re much more advanced than us when it comes to tools and middleware.”

The exciting part is that later, the CEO of Atlus, Naoto Hiraoka stated that they had a meeting with SEGA CCO Toshiro Nagoshi about the future games Atlus plans to release. I would have love to be a fly on the wall during that meeting.
