Valkyria: Azure Revolution Brunhild character trailer released

Brunhild, the most visually striking character in the Valkyria: Azure Revolution cast now has a Japanese character trailer. When the character designs for the game debuted earlier this year, fans saw a couple of similarities between Brunhild and the original Valkyria Chronicles‘ antagonist Selvaria Bles.

In Valkyria: Azure Revolution, the uniquely proportioned Brunhild is known as the “God of Death” on the battlefield. This immortal Valkyria wields a an equally ridiculously proportioned scythe and her body is largely immune to swords and bullets. Under contract by Emperor Claudius of the invading Rus Empire, she will likely prove to be a formidable foe.

Will she prove to be a hollow, immortal rival under control of the Empire; or will her story be more complicated? Players will be able to find out when Valkyria: Azure Revolution releases on January 19th, 2017 in Japan for the PS4 and PS Vita. Another demo for the game is due out later this month. You can continue to follow SEGAbits for all of your latest Azure Revolution updates and check out the official site for lots of media.

Still no word on a Western localization.

SEGAbits at New York Comic Con 2016 impressions

New York Comic Con is an annual event at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, hosting varies booths and panels for comics, movies, television shows, anime, and video games. SEGAbits writers Kori-Maru and FlareHabanero visited the New York Comic Con to hunt down SEGA-related products, cosplays, and artists, but at the same time looking at the event in general. SEGA nor Atlus themselves were present at the event, but that didn’t stop them from hunting down SEGA for all it’s worth. Notably, artists who worked on the Sonic Archie comic series were present at the event, along with miscellaneous merchandising like Figma and CharaGumin.

We posted before about how SEGA picked up publishing rights to Neoact’s DOTA clone called Chaos Heroes Online. It seems that SEGA isn’t afraid of using its franchise’s to get people on the new game, since they have announced new bonus characters Alicia Melchiott and Selvaria Bles from Valkyria Chronicles. There are alternative ‘bikini’ costumes, but those will be bought by in-game cash. Talk about literally whoring out your characters.  Hit the jump and check out the game footage along with a ton of screens.

Valkyria Chronicles 2 – All Unlock Codes!

Valkyria Chronicles 2 is a well supported game! Not only did the DLC content just release. With 22 new missions for just $4.99 but all of the free unlock codes have been revealed!

Most of the codes are for ‘stickers’ which you attach to your tank. The stickers give your tank different effects and attributes. Many of which feature characters and logos from other Sega series such as Skies of Arcadia, Yakuza, Phantasy Star and Sonic. Something we are always happy to see.

Some other codes however unlock new playable characters!

SEGA Renews Virtua Fighter Trademark

maxresdefaultI saw this floating around Twitter a few days ago, but has now been covered by VFDC and Shoryuken so why not cover it? SEGA has renewed the Virtua Fighter trademark according to trademarkia on July 4th. What does renewing the Virtua Fighter trademark possibly mean for the future of the franchise? Possibly nothing, seeing as SEGA does this all the time. Back in 2012 we did a story about SEGA renewing the Skies of Arcadia trademark and now we know that didn’t mount to much.

Of course SEGA renewed the Virtua Fighter trademark to protect its IP, not to mention they still do stuff with the franchise from time to time. For example Virtua fighter characters have had cameos in games like Smash Bros, Dead or Alive 5 ,Project x Zone 1/2 and even Dengeki Bunko: Fighting ClimaxAs we covered before, it has been a decade since the release of Virtua Fighter 5 and if the franchise needs anything its a new entry. Bring on Virtua Fighter 6, SEGA!

I personally think SEGA can test the market by re-releasing Virtua Fighter 5: Final Showdown definitive edition on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Maybe try some experiments like Tecmo Koei did with Dead or Alive which had a free-to-play version and a full package release. But anyway, what are your thoughts on SEGA renewing the Virtua Fighter trademark? What do you want to see for the future of the franchise?
