SEGA cancels Genesis iPhone app

SEGA promised to release an app called “SEGA Ultimate Genesis Collection” which would let you download and play other SEGA Genesis games. It was suppose to be out February. What happen?

SEGA has canceled the app, stating SEGA is changing its iPhone and iPod Touch strategy. Hopefully this means more quality control, because the last Genesis games they released ran like crap. How about a Space Channel 5 port? That should work well.

  1. Um… How about changing that story title. The link never mentions Sega stopping their Genesis ports, it says they're reevaluating their strategy. Maybe we'll see bundled collections, a la Sonic Classic Collection, or maybe we'll see Genesis Collection someday, but with a completely different design. :afroman:

  2. Still, this is good news. Sega's iPhone releases have been uneven. The awesome Super Monkey Ball 2 and the so-so port of Sonic the Hedgehog led to me wondering what Sega game I could trust.

Well, they canceled the app, I'll change it to saying the app.

  4. cool dude, thanks. I mean, you gotta figure Sega will still milk their old games, but hopefully they'll do it at a higher level of quality.
