The Firecore Genesis Reviewed

Before the insanity that is E3 begins, I thought I’d give a hardware review of the Firecore Classic Console. Manufactured by Innex under license by SEGA, the Firecore is essentially a mini SEGA Genesis. Fittingly, it was around this time last year that the Firecore as well as its mobile brother the Retrogen were previewed at E3. You can check out the video preview if you’d like, but I warn you: a cringe inducing interview awaits.

Oh god, the awful music killed it for me.

Barry is talking about Kartel $Karma AKA SegaNerds

    BARRY, YOU BETRAY US!!!…

*brings Shadi aside to speak with him privately for a moment*

Tell me more about this "Karma" thing… ^_^

  6. It's not a betrayal if you spam your Kartel personal blog to score points. Oop! I've said too much…

I'm not going to lie.. but I liked how the sounds and audio sounded deeper.

I disliked the waterfall sound in the music.. MY EARS

  8. Yeah, the music is bad but not complete shit. If you can find the system for $20 it's worth it. The ring sfx on the Firecore sounds like brass bells falling into some glass.

Oh, forgot to mention: Innex claimed the Firecore would be compatible with their firebox technology (think a Genesis cart that you can load up with games via the PC). But since Innex has not produced the thing yet, I didn't mention it.

Have a portable version called GenMobile. It can also be hooked up to the TV. Have a hard time getting some games to work no mater how hard I clean them though.
