Make console love, not console wars

Neptune’s pre-order items have been revealed and they are full of love. Some of the ‘telephone cards’ that you will get free with a pre-order show console goddesses getting sexy with each other.

There are a couple of other ones in the source link, but they where not sexy enough to make the cut. Sorry. The game is coming out August 19 in Japan. No word on a Western release date.

Okay… I've been thinking about it for a while, and I don't think Neptune should be mentioned in the same breath as Segagaga. SGGG was an utterly unique game, a satirical commentary on a particular time in the history of Sega. This Neptune game, on the other hand, looks like a vapid fantasy world and now, pretty trashy. So they managed to secure the rights to depict a few old school Sega characters… I've yet to see how it has anything like the clever commentary on the game industry that SGGG had.

    What Centrale said.

Still, I WANT THIS SO BAD

Centrale, I thank you! A while back I had lost interest in this game (got it back though) and I believe it was because of the characters but I believe what you said may have been the true reason I doubted this. It really doesn't look very clever and all I'm seeing is a bunch of perverted images of these characters that are supposed to parody companies. This is definitely a wait and see type of game.

I really do not like what I'm seeing and it seems to be a pretty terrible looking game. I doubt it would even do well both financially and critically.

Glad everyone is accepting this as the garbage it is.

    I think it's brilliant, so fuck ya'll!

Nah, it's not everyone's thing, that's cool. I know with all the press releases, not a whole lot has been shown about the actual game. A short (rushed?) gameplay footage was shown, but they can show a lot more, like the flow of the game or why the PS3 looks so tsundere.

This is a Day 1 one title for me, though – as soon as I get a PS3, that is.

Pretty much from the start I figured this wasn't really going to be the spiritual sequel to Segagaga; I knew that as soon as I found out Compile Heart were making it, and this game so far is very much sticking to their usual path of otaku-baiting over substance. The Sega cameos are cute, but judging from the video we saw they are literally just the logo and one frame of an old sprite on screen for a brief period. I wouldn't be surprised if those bits get replaced in the western release if Sega is funny about the rights to it. :/
