Vanquish first day Japanese sales are in

Posted by GeorgeFollow George on Twitter! on Oct 24th, 2010

The first day sales for Vanquish are in and seem rather low. They aren’t a total failure, but I sort of assumed it would beat a Naruto game.

  • Vanquish PS3: 47,000 units
  • Vanquish 360: 9,000 units

Hopefully they sell more copies this whole week. For reference, the Naruto game on PS3 sold 72,000 copies and 13,000 on Xbox 360. I guess its too much to outsell a big anime IP like Naruto.

Bayonetta’s first day sales in Japan where much more positive, selling 93,000 on the PS3 and the Xbox 360 version selling 45,000 units. A Bayonetta size hit this game is not, at least in Japan.

This looks like a game that will do much better in the west. I'll be very impressed if it sells more than 93000 over here. At least I hope it will :D

Damn, some pretty weak sales for Vanquish on the 360.

Remember these numbers can change without warning ;p

    Shit…

I think those numbers are pretty impressive for a shooter sold in Japan. It really doesn't matter who made the game, the shooter market in Japan is still kind of non existent.

9,000 for xbox is kind of surprising though. I would have thought it would be the other way around where the xbox woul lead and the PS3 would follow for this kind of game.

Gotta agree with Fuji. Over 50,000 first-week sales for a shooter in Japan isn't as bad as you think.

What you should really be concerned about are the sales for following weeks, and how quickly the public's interest dies.

Try more tits and ass and less western cinematics next time.
