Sonic Colours not off to a good start in the UK

Sonic Colours came out on Novemeber 12th, this chart ended on the 13th, so its only accounting for first day of sales, so take them as you will. If you see the Wii only games chart, it came in at number 11, being outsold bygames like Mario Galaxy 2, The X Factor and Sims 3. The game is way lower in the all format charts, came in at number 36, two spots higher than Sonic Free Riders.

Hopefully it sparks more fire next week on the charts, since these are really just ‘one day sales’, it is hard for the title to chart high. But hey, at least Football Manager 11 is rocking those charts.

I think people are finally losing interest from all previous games, the damage is starting to become more noticable. It's not fair, especially now sonic finally has a universally praised game

This is bad, very very bad. I've not seen a Sonic game chart that low in a long time, if ever.

Damage to the series has been done, it's going to take a while before it finally heals, Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is tracking above SEGA's expectations, but Sonic Colours must surely be severely undertracking, especially in the usually pro-Sonic United Kingdom. To put into prespectative how bad the openning week is, it makes Yakuza 3's release in the UK seem like Call of Duty, as that was just on one platform, Sonic Colours is represented by two.

It'll be interesting to see if sales picks up as good word of mouth goes around, but I'm not expecting much to be quite honest. Hopefully I'm wrong though.

    Guys… Its first day sales.

And most of the titles beating it are hyped up/license titles/crap

    It'll pick up around Christmas.

In North America the marketing's been horrible, I assume Sega will only be marketing this to the younger crowd, which is unfortunate.

Edit: apparently they did create a North America TV spot, so…we'll see.

If this is just the first day sales then I am not worried at all.

The game is going up against some big hitting AAA titles this holiday, luckily most of them are 18+ games so I expect Sonic Colours to get a good foothold in the Christmas period.

It is bound to be a long lasting slow burner anyway, It's Sonic on the Wii.

    I'm not worried yet.

Sonic games tend to be slow burners that sell a lot more on budget but this is still very very sad. With Kinect and Black Ops this week hopefully this swamped Sonic out of the market…

I am not too worried, but if it undersells I will blame it on the style they used most of all.

I really just think around 10 years of constant not-too-good Sonic games has really just done it's work to the franchise. It can recover, but not for awhile. Fortunately SEGA has a ton of great IPs they can build up in the meanwhile!

Well, not only it's just first day sales, it's quite possible that lots of stores didn't even had the game on the release day.

Where I live (Portugal), the local store is only going to start selling it this thursday. .____.
