Pier Solar is a new RPG for the SEGA Genesis

Pier Solar started off life in 2004 in an internet forum, flash forward to now and its a full fledge game. In the game you play as Hoston, a young botanist who has to save his father from a illness. The game uses 64 meg cart, if you didn’t know, that is some intense power and is the biggest Genesis cart ever.

You can order the game via its official website.

The game has already gone into re-print due to overwhelming fan demand. It looks pretty good and I might order a copy for myself soon. As for screenshots, hit the jump.

I've got mixed feelings on this one.

I don't like the battle system, but the over all games seems close to Phantasy Star and I loved those games.

  2. Nice! Just ordered the game! $45 total is a sweet deal, especially when you consider how pricey some indie games are (cough!lasthopepinkbullets). Pier Solar also utilizes the SEGA CD for CD quality sound, all you need is the iso file from the game's forums. Cool stuff!

I've actually been looking into this game very recently my self. Problem is, I haven't been able to find any professional reviews, or any videos, at least until now XD. Graphically, I can't believe this thing's actually running on a Genesis, and the idea that it actually utilizes the SEGA CD at the SAME TIME, something nothing ever did back in the day, only sweetens the deal.

Price is also right. I could find the price on their website, so again I figured it would be much more expensive.

I guess I have little reason not to pick it up now. Sure, I still have no idea if it's any good, but then again that's something I should probably find out for others, eh? 😛

Edit: Aaaaand bought! Expect a SEGAbits review for this game eventually, as well as one for Super Fighter Team's Legend of Wukong.

lol, I don't really do videos, as I don't even have a video capture card yet. I'll look into it XD.

  6. I could do the inside out, no problem. Of course the game ships in February, so thats going to be a ways off. 🙂 nuckles would be better at a review, considering how bad I am at RPGs.

Well, to be fair, I have never played a 16 bit RPG for more then a few hours. But I've got PS4 sitting on my shelf and PS2 in my Wii, so I guess I could start :D.

You have to be even more Crazy (taxi) this time then.

Nuckles, start playing PS4 before this it is a much better game than this will ever hope to be.

Well, one's the best entry of a legendary series and the other is an awesome looking fan project. So, I'm not exactly expecting that. But that's not the only way the game is going to be judged.
