SEGA hires Sissel Henno to head licensing department

SEGA Europe is going to step up their licensing game, meaning you should expect more merchandise related to popular SEGA franchises like Sonic the Hedgehog in the near future. SEGA has hired Sissel Henno to head the licensing team.

“I’m very excited to become a part of the SEGA team and to grow the licensing activities around these fantastic brands. The celebration of Sonic’s 20th Anniversary this year is a great way to kick start my new assignment and I’m looking forward to working with the existing licensees as well as any new partners that we can welcome to the licensing program.” – Sissel Henno.

Sounds like we will be having a lot of junk to buy that is Sonic related for 2011. Feels good man.

    Good for her

  2. More retro Genesis era Sonic stuff please! And new art, not the same stock images used again and again. Oh! And badniks need some merch love.

  3. Sega Uranus says:

As long as they are quality stuff and not weird obscure things.

Hoping to see more SEGA stuff and not just Sonic, but I might as well preach to the choir about that, being the 20th anniversary.

I hope her future is as bright as her forehead.

@Uranus: Aren't the majority of Sega games weird and/or obscure?

I want to see Sega pick up Gal Gun.

  5. Sharky says:

Sega could make such a crap ton of money selling novelty items based not only on their big IPs but also their company brand.

Shit how many of us would buy official shirts/jackets etc that have 'To be this good takes AGES' 'WelcomeToTheNextLevel' or hell even the word 'SEGA' on them?

Then there is all of the popular brands like Sonic, Monkey Ball, Bayonetta, Yakuza, Total War, FootBall Manager, Virtua Tennis, Valkyria Chronicles… So much you could make clothes, toys, Action figures, keyrings, mugs…

Then there is the retro stuff, Alex Kidd, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage and so many more that could benifit from branded clothes that have that retro style about them…
