Mike Hayes: Sonic 4 Episode 2 will be “excellent”

Though it’s been said before, it never hurts to hear it again. SEGA of America and Europe president Mike Hayes has recently said that the company has heard the voices of fans who were disappointed with Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 1, and that he believes Episode 2 will take these opinions into account and be “excellent.”

“I know there were some quality issues that we had there that we’ve taken on board and there will be further episodes following up on that. I think the next one’s excellent. I think that’s going to overcome some of the issues that we had on the first one.”

Nothing about Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 was present at either E3 or Sonic Boom; Probably SEGA’s hoping to keep everyone’s attention this year on Sonic Generations. If Episode 2 controls similarly to Sonic Generations’ classic Sonic stages, I’m sure (rational) fans will be much happier with it than they were with Episode 1.

Whatever, dude! If Generations delivers I won't even need to acknowledge these episodes anymore.

He "thinks" that "some" issues will be overcome.

    Skeptical about this

  3. I'd rather they fix what was ridiculed and continue to release the episodes than give up. Would look bad on SEGA's part if they promised an episodic release and then canned the whole thing, especially considering the thing was a huge sales success.

I'm sure Episode II will be excellent. Can't wait to face off with Metal Sonic!

I was wondering if Episode 2 was abandoned or not. I was just thinking about this in bed a couple of nighs ago.

Glad to hear it still around. The news in this article seems promising. Maybe all the positive reactions about whats right in Generations will influence some improvements in the mechanics of the game.

The timing for Sonic 4 was terrible, if they knew Sonic Generations was in development.

Sonic 4 while marketed as 2D, is infact 100% 3D just like the classic levels of Generations – Neither game use Hand drawn sprites and backgrounds they are all digitally rendered so at this point what is the relevance of Sonic 4, if you already have Generations aside from the fact that Tails will be playable.

Because of these 2 series running simultaneously we are actually not getting a fully fleshed out Sonic experience, we all complained about to many characters that didn't mean you get rid of every playable character and start dividing Sonic into different characters.

Wait…..wha? Dude whether a game is 2D or 3D has nothing to do with whether the backgrounds are hand drawn or not….it has to do with the plane your character moves on.

Sonic 4, and the Classic sections of Sonic Generations, are definitely 2D.
