Yakuza series sells over the 5 million mark

As I revealed in my last SEGA in the Charts post, the Yakuza series was due to cross over the 4 million mark in Japan if sales of Yakuza of the End were to continue and indeed, as confirmed by SEGA, it has shipped 400,000, which means that the series has crossed the 4 million mark in Japan. SEGA however also confirmed that the series has topped over 5 million units worldwide, making the series one of SEGA’s most consistent and best sellers in the last seven years.

    Awesome news, great series…

Now they just need to find a way to make it take off in the West… I think when Yakuza 5 comes out they should probably relaunch it in the West. Maybe just call it Yakuza give it a big marketing push to get the ball rolling again.

When you release a game in a franchise at a yearly rate for 6 years, it's only a matter of time before it sells 5 million, I s'pose.

Nice to see, it's a fun series. I really hope they shake things up for Yakuza 5, though. Every change they make for each game imo only feels like a *step* in a new direction.
