Best version in my opinion. Reminds me of Christmas eve, because thats when I always play it.
I finally dug out my Saturn and hooked it up to my HDTV (expecting horrible things), replaced the battery for the game saves, and popped in NiGHTS. It certainly doesn't look as bad as I expected, very vibrant, just aliased like crazy. I have sit farther back than usual to enjoy it.
I was most surprised to find a "Widescreen" option… so now the game and cinemas fill up the screen much better. I already beat Claris' dream in less than an hour with B ratings on all the levels except an A on the last one.
The Sonic Team logo still gives me goosebumps, it's so perfect.
You rockin' the S-video or standard cables? I bought a Saturn S-video cable off ebay (from China, super cheap) and the picture quality is a huge improvement.
Standard cables, I don't think I've played the system since 2004. I used to have an Action Replay for game saves, but that doesn't load anymore. Either it died or the cartridge port did. Very interesting starting fresh with no saves.

The comparison with Rise of Nightmares is what got me thinking about it, since RoN already has a few to simulate actual movement in a space without being onrails.
BTW, my Sega Bits handle, max_cady is pronounced pronounced not as cady in caddyshack, is sounds more like "Cadie", seen the Cape Fear movie? Robert Mitchum's and Robert DeNiro's character? Like that.
