Sonic CD skips Nintendo platforms due to size limit

It’s weird seeing Sonic CD announced for a ton of platforms, even one that always gets left out like Android, but not Wiiware. Why is that you ask? It seems that Nintendo has a strict 40mb size limit on files and to port the cd quality sound from Sonic CD, it would have exceed that. Since Nintendo won’t budge, no Sonic CD for Nintendo fans.

Is it just me or is it weird that SEGA has standards for their ports? I mean, if you have seen how they usually treat their Genesis ports, one would think they are just in it for the quick cash.

It doesn’t helps that they probably don’t know if they should still support the Wii or move into the Wii U.

At first I thought that 40MB was a pathetic file size to cap at, but then I remembered that Wii only has 512MB to begin with…

I think the music could fit under 40MB, but then they’d have to cut out the cinematics, no way to have both.

    Very accurate pic.

Think every port should be as close to the original as possible. So no cut music, no cut cinematics.

Nintendo needs to chill out in general. If someone has a quality game, let them put it on your system.

My bigger concern is why games like this aren’t being released universally. No 3DS or Vita. I don’t want to get a stupid Ipod Touch to play a couple games.

i bet if nintendo didn’t have there limit they would have made sonic 4 one big game instead of dividing it up

^Doubt it. Dividing it up works for Sega better in the long run because it gets them more money.

I’ve had it with the wii myself.

well nintendo its not getting any love from sega this year

It’s too bad for wii only owners but I think by now it would be a good time to pick up a secondary HD system for stuff like this. You are really limiting yourself to the vast SEGA library by only owning one system.
