The Dreamcast turns 12 today!

It has been 12 years since that sweet white dream machine landed on American shores and blew us away with a stellar launch line up. Gaming has changed quite a bit, most of it thanks to stuff started by SEGA with the Dreamcast.

Even though we still get plenty of games, I think we can all agree on one thing; It’s not the same without having a SEGA console. Can you believe that SEGA hasn’t released a console in 12 years? I feel old.

Happy Birthday Dreamcast.

I only remember this anniversary as the time Chris Rock hosting the MTV awards. Never owned a Dreamcast, but happy belated birthday.

  3. Happy Birthday, my little off-white magic machine!

Will people remember the Dreamcast in 2099?

Ah Dreamcast. I was managing an EB Games in ’99 and sold through 120 systems first day…then the Midway debacle later in the day where MK Gold and Hydro Thunder discs weren’t reading. Still, many great games, I’m glad to have all the USA games and a lot of Japanese games, most of the peripherals, more VMU’s than I can count and all the fun I can handle. Bless you Dreamcast. Sega may not want to acknowledge you now (yeah, thanks for the collection of PC ports Sega) but you’ll always be in my heart.

    Happy Birthday you magnificent bastard!

I really want to brave hooking it up to my HDTV with composite cables just so I play some today. Some day I’ll buy the RGB cable, but I’ve been saying that for too long.

I will have to play a little Shenmue, JSR, Toy Commander, and… I’m not sure what else.

No it isn’t the same without a sega console, none the less, happy birthday to the ‘cast.

It’s also the birthday of (for the American release) the PlayStation and Final Fantasy VIII.

I was one of the lucky few to have purchased Hyrdo Thunder off ebay years later, only to find out that it was one of the faulty copies. 🙁
