Yet more Sonic news today, here is some game play of the re-release of Sonic CD on Tablet devices, XBLA and PSN. It will feature improved physics, real HD and Tails as a playable character.

If you can find your way to a GameStop, you can test the game on tablets now.

    It looks nice

  • batfax says:

I tried to play it when picking up Skyrim last night. Tablets really can’t do this kind of stuff at all. =\

  • Barry the Nomad says:

I managed to play a bit this week, feels great! Much more like Sonic 2 than Sonic CD. Can’t wait for this one.

  • Sybnios says:

You have to be joking! This is ridiculous and its worse than Sonic 06! And of course I am reffering for the tablets version and the gameplay only!!! This is unplayable and whoever thinks otherwise then what can I say…. I am buying this on PSN anyway! I own all 3 versions on SEGA MEGA CD and think of it as the best Sonic game! ^_^

  • Crazy Diamond says:

The change in the feel of the physics is due to an entire change in game engine. It’s really not a port of Sonic CD so much as it is a port of Taxman’s Retro Engine, but given the sprites and tileset of Sonic CD. I assume that they remade the special stages from scratch.

There does seem to be little hints of slowdown in this video though, which might be a little concerning for those of you who are considering buying this Gamestop tablet.

  • Barry the Nomad says:

The slowdown, according to taxman, is probably due to the tablet having other apps open in the background. When I was at Gamestop I started the tablet up fresh and played the game, and didn’t encounter any slowdown.

  • CosmicCastaway says:

I played on those tablets while I was waiting for the midnight release of Sonic Generations. I’ve never played on a device like that before so I was doing really poorly, but the game itself was running fantastic and it was beautiful as ever.
