Those hoping to have the new Dreamcast game in time for Christmas will be disappointed, I’m afraid, as Sturmwind has ran into some production problems. Unlike the previous delay this has nothing to do with the game itself. Sturmwind has gone gold and is ready to go into production. Unfortunately, the CD pressing company that was slated to print copies of the game has gone bankrupt. Sturmwind’s publisher, RedSpotGames, has already found a replacement manufacturer, but for the time being the game’s release date is now “TBA”. We’ll be sure to update you as soon as a new release date is established. An announcement is expected later in the month.

In spite of best planning, the release of Sturmwind has to be postponed: Our long-term CD-ROM manufacturer surprisingly had to declare bankruptcy after 19 years in business. From 40 employees only a few remained. Therefore this resulted in the situation that the scheduled delivery date for Sturmwind could not be met in the end.
Ad:The only possibility has been to relocate the production – to avoid further delays of the bankrupt facility. Nevertheless items like the spaceship models have been completely manufactured already. Our new partner is one of the largest videogame CD / DVD press plants in Europe with over 50 years of experience in medium production. In the meanwhile we already placed our production order for Sturmwind.
The release date is set to TBA (“to be announced”) consequently.
Details are currently clarified between redspotgames, Duranik and the new facility. Also we are arranging material for another announcement with more exact information within December, which will be after Christmas however. All orders in the redspotgames online shop will remain valid.
Sucks, but like I said over at the Dreamcast Junkyard, I’m sorta glad it was delayed. No way could I drop $60+ with Christmas and all. Now I can pre-order next month and get a copy with everybody else! 🙂 To be honest, the original release date was pretty bad. Just a few days before Christmas, meaning shipments would take a hit from the Christmas rush, and like I said, a lot of people don’t spend as much on themselves this time of year.
Well, I’ve already paid for my copy so I’m just a little disappointed. The good news is they already found another company. In the meantime I have enough to play to keep me busy until they do release the game.
Maybe they can fix the atrocious box art now?
