Sonic CD Tops the PSN Charts

Sonic CD is a smash hit on PSN! It has topped the charts and has beaten some of the bigger PSN titles such as Infamous2: Festival of Blood, and Castle Crashers. At the $5 price point, it’s not hard to see why. Still it’s great to see a Sonic game #1 in sales again. Full top ten list of PSN titles at the link.

Hope SEGA will take alot of notes from this. I mean not only that quality sells but also subtle things like, people still love regular classic gameplay without the homing attacks and speed boosters.

That level design is still ass though…. Fuck that as long as it’s good with gameplay, and I’m not just talking about classic and nostalgic shit, I’m good.

Oh and that spin dash pissed me off in the original, still haven’t played the new version yet.

    • CrazyTails says:

The new version fixes alot of things. Believe it or not, but the physics and spindash changes really have a huge impact to the gameplay.

The level design is pretty ass yeah i’ll give ya that, but it is for a reason. I think once you play and 100% the game you will find out that there is alot more depth than meets the eye.

    • Arc Christelle says:

I’m glad to hear that because when I played the original I had to go to the bathroom and question everything I knew about Sonic and why I was the only person who disliked the game. [Especially the American version. There was not enough anime in Japan to correct that soundtrack. lol

When I get a chance to hop back on XBL I’ll be sure to check it out.

Hope this could potentially have more Sega CD titles appear on consoles in the future, like 3 Ninjas Kick Back.
Actually, I’d rather see the games on the Saturn and Dreamcast rereleased.

I’d love to know what happened to Sega’s plan to release lots of DC games. They were like ‘We could release 18-24 games per yer!’ and stopped at FOUR.

  4. CrazyTails says:

I think besides getting awful scores, they sold pretty bad. I dunno but even if that were the case, it was the fault of the way the games were ported and what games they had picked in the first place. I really think games like bass fishing shouldn’t be ported at all. Really irresponsible and disrespectful way of treating the legacy of the DC

Always good to hear retro Sega doing well. Why? Because it could and should lead to more retro Sega titles being released. More titles relaunching similar to what they did w/ Shinobi on 3DS. And hopefully Sega will put out some of these PSN titles on the PS Vita
