Sonic 4 Episode 2 Hedgehog Day Reveal: Egg Serpentleaf

To celebrate Groundhog Hedgehog Day, SEGA of America has shared a new piece of concept art from Sonic 4 Episode 2. Is it another badnik? No! It’s our first look at a boss, and an original boss at that! Dubbed the Egg Serpentleaf, the boss appears to be Eggman inside a giant flower that is able to close up and act as a laser. Pretty cool if you ask me! I wonder if the giant flower hints at the stage motif? After the break, more images of the new boss.

Wow! I think we have the old Sega back! =D

Nice concept art allthough bot really a great way to celebrate hedgehog day. I thought this day was supposed to be important in the marketing campaign but oh well.

Not gonna lie but the overly cautiousness has me a little worried. We’ll see

This was a big marketing day. Besides the unveiling of a Sonic 4-2 boss, they announced the dates for the two big Sonic events in the U.S. and London.

Yeah but who is going to know? Just the fans yeah, but hedgehog day was mostly a thing that happened for major crouds. Even if it was just simply going on a show in front of a camera anouncing something that was enough. What we got was simply a blog update which was quite underwhelming at first, but then I got over it and liked the concept art.

Not to forget the fact that the boss concept art is a spoiler which sucks to people that like to avoid spoilers.

By my count “Hedgehog Day” was only a major deal once: when Sonic 3 released. I’ve never seen SEGA gathering large crowds, getting infront of cameras and making major announcements on Feb 2nd. Like the SEGA blog itself says, the past few years they’ve just been using the day for blog reveals. In ’10 we got a tree and flower and a poorly run “comment and win a prize” contest. In ’11 all they did was announce that the 20th anniversary would be celebrated. I think you’re giving SEGA some unnecessary flack.

Yeah I think u are right barry. I may have just overhyped myself a bit. But wasn’t hedgehog day celebrated more “apropriatly” last year during episode 1’s campaign?
