SEGA announces Jet Grind Radio for PSN/XBLA

Well, little else needs to be said. My only hope, and I know it might be a long shot, is that we get the whole soundtrack intact. The music, each and every song, is crucial to Jet Grind Radio, so hopefully SEGA won’t be pulling a Crazy Taxi on us.

No release date has yet been given for what will hopefully be a truly epic blast from the past. The teaser also does not indicate whether any new features or graphical improvements will be added.

YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

    “Starts running around room.”

    WHOOOOOOO!!!!

I’m kind of a big fan of that game.

You mean Jet SET Radio. ;D

  3. Well, JSR had fewer licensed tracks. I think nearly all of the soundtrack was in-house. JSRF had far more licensed tracks.

Still, I’d be amazed if the full soundtrack made the cut. JSR is ALL about the music.

3.Deavid Soul – Miller Ball Breakers
4.Deavid Soul – On the Bowl (A.Fargus Remix)

    6.Deavid Soul – Yappie Feet

    15.Hideki Naganuma – Sneakman
16.Hideki Naganuma – Sweet Soul Brother
    17.Hideki Naganuma – That’s Enough
    18.Idol Taxi – OK House
19.Jurassic 5 – Improvise (North American and PAL versions only)
20.Mixmaster Mike – Patrol Knob (North American and PAL versions only)
21.Professional Murder Music – Slow (North American version only)
    22.Reps – ‘Bout the City
23.Richard Jacques – Everybody Jump Around
24.Rob Zombie – Dragula (North American version only)
    25.Toronto – Electric Tooth Brush
26.Feature Cast – Recipe For The Perfect Afro (PAL version only)

28.Semi Detached – Funky Plucker (PAL version only)
29.Deavid Soul – Dunny Boy Williamson Show (Japanese version only)
    30. Cold – Just Got Wicked (North American version only)

For sure the Naganuma tracks would be included, Richard Jacques most likely would too, as those are definitely in-house, but then there are some good ones on there that may very well be licensed. I’m not sure what the situation is with great songs like ‘Bout the City, but I think it’d be incredibly nice if Sega would try to re-secure those tracks. Maybe it’s asking too much but ….I’d hate to lose the likes of any of those.

Edit; Hm. I checked the game’s end credits and it only specifies tracks like Rob Zombie, Cold, Jurassic 5, and Slow…so maybe those would be the only ones getting cut. I could live with that, though I’d still rather they all stayed in there. Guess we’ll see.

    • ‘Bout the City made it on the official soundtrack, so it may be okay. The Deavid Soul tracks were NOT on the soundtrack, which makes me fear that they might be cut. Which would suck, because Deavid Soul’s tracks were some of the best.

I’d be fine with the US tracks getting cut. Jurassic 5 and Mixmaster Mike were great. But Rob Zombie did not fit at all.

But it only played during the Combo and Cube flashback scenes and I thought it was alright.

I thought all those songs really helped set the Combo/Cube flashbacks apart because that was a really dark part of the game and those songs gave it a darker edge. I’ll miss them and I can’t picture Grind City without Cold’s Just Got Wicked playing.

    But I guess my primary concern would be having the ‘main’ songs on the soundtrack all intact. Losing Miller Ball Breakers from Deavid Soul would be a *CRIME*;

    A crime I tell ya!

  7. Maybe we’ll see the non-extended Japanese version rather than the US/UK version? Personally, I’d like to see De La JSR used as the basis for the port.

You mean cutting out that part of the game all together? I wouldn’t like that much at all. :/

    YES!!!

Please SEGA, just title it JSR as the good lord intended. The JGR title screen makes me cringe.

I’m really hoping it comes out this summer. I could list features that I wish could make it, but all that matters is I can play this without requiring the DC.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I bought this for most of my friends just to raise the sales figures.

I can do with out Rob Zombie…
He wasn’t in the version I have, thank god.

  11. Shigs says:

I only have one request Sega (besides keeping the music) it has be called Jet SET Radio! Not this “Grind” shit. Please!

  12. CrazyTails says:

Yeah I agree with the “jet” version. I always preferred that, but I also like how the person yells it at the start menu like”JET SET RADIOOOOOOOOO”

    Yeah yeah 😎

He only played during that one daytime level in the Combo/Cube flashback. That was it. And it was mixed in pretty well with the rest of the tracks for that level.

Yes! Totally made my day. I hope JSR gets the same treatment as Guardian Heroes did at the very least. 16:9, high resolution textures, tweak the camera just a bit and please for the love of god leave the grafitti editor in.

SEGA, you have my money already. Just release it. 😀
