Capcom x Sega x Namco Bandai project gets named and crossover characters get revealed [update #2] high quality scans!

We have been posting about the collaboration project with SEGA, Namco-Bandai, and Capcom. Thankfully for you we have the first details thanks to Famitsu. The game will be called Project X Zone (pronounced Project Cross Zone)

Project X Zone will be a strategy RPG featuring “iconic” characters from all three publishers. According to Famitsu, the characters in the game will team up in pairs for fighting scenes. So who got into the game? Hit the jump to see the revealed characters…

Like said above, the characters will be paired up..

SEGA

  • Shinguji Sakura and Ogami Ichiro (Sakura Wars series)
  • Pai and Akira (Virtua Fighter series)
  • Kurt and Riela (Valkyria Chronicles series)
  • Ulala and Touma (Space Channel 5 and Shining Force EXA)

Capcom

  • Ryu & Ken (Street Fighter series)
  • X and Zero (Mega Man X series)
  • Demitri and Dante (Darkstalkers and Devil May Cry)
  • Chris and Jill (Resident Evil series)

Namco Bandai

  • Sanger Somvold (Super Robot Wars series)
  • Jin and Ling Xiaoyu (Tekken series)
  • Kos-Mos and T-elos (Xenosaga series)
  • Yurie and Estel (Tales of Vesperia)
  • Kaito and Black Rose (.hack series)

The first trailer for the game is supposed to be coming out later this month. So hold on for that. But right now it’s sounding a lot like Namco x Capcom, a PS2 only game that didn’t get hot ratings.

Check out the scans below.

Update: Thanks to SEGAbits forum member STORM! for the high quality scans!

I am pleased in Sakura Shinguji’s inclusion.

seconded. not a bad choice of chars over all. I am slightly miffed that the valkyria chronicles characters are from the 3rd game and not the first. All the characters chosen with the exception of X & Zero(and maybe ulala) seem to adhere to a certain tone and anime aesthetic.

Well George your prediction was spot on, appears it is Namco X Capcom with Sega tacked on.
It’s strange as none of these companies are best known for their RPGs.
I’ll continue to keep my fingers crossed that the fan translation of Segagaga comes to fruition.

    • Hitrax says:

Google “Segagaga translation blog” ~ Click first result.

    • Samurai-Don says:

You say that but Capcom, Namco and Sega had made great RPG so it isn’t like they don’t know how to make a RPG.

Anyway I just want 4 things from this.

      1. Put Sonic the Hedgehog in.
      2. Put Viewtiful Joe in.
      3. Put Lloyd from Tales of Symphonia in.
      4. Release it over sea.

    • straitJacket says:

All I meant is that they’re first and foremost known for their arcade titles. As I’ve said in a previous post, I thought it would be cool to have crossover fighting game that also changes dimensions to represent the respective companies.

Regarding the comment from Hitrax, I already knew about the Segagaga blog. I just fear it may never get completed.

  7. SonicFFVII says:

This already has me sold having megaman, zero, yuri, and estelle. What would really make me buy it first moment is if sonic characters were added. It already has me here but it would be awesome!

  8. Barry the Nomad says:

I would have loved to see Ryo Hazuki and Ren.

  9. CosmicCastaway says:

That’s cool that Shining Force EXA is getting some love, but I am honestly a bit surprised that Toma is teamed up with Ulala. I love them both but they don’t seem like they would mix well. =P

    • Barry the Nomad says:

Jaguar would have been a cooler teammate. Every time he appears on screen, his posse announce “JAGUAAAAR!”

    • STORM! says:

He is teamed up with Ulala and Cyril. They are a team of 3. Ulala attacks with Morons, Harrier (the main character of Space Harrier), Opaopa, the robot from Alien Storm, etc… very funny stuff here.

    • Barry the Nomad says:

Oh wow! I didn’t notice that! I now see Opa Opa and Harrier! Very cool.

  10. Shigs says:

Well, now that I know what it is, I no longer care since I seriously doubt it will ever come out here. Plus, it just doesn’t look that interesting.

  11. Len says:

The fact this is on the 3DS is what kind of puts me off this game, I mean why the hell does it have to be the 3DS? It would be far better on the Xbox 360 and PS3, it would be seriously worth watching out for then.
A cross over collaboration like this between three brand companies doesn’t happen every day, and they waste it by making it a 3DS project.

    • DCGX says:

My guess is because the production cost for the 3DS is much, much less than the HD consoles. Aside from that, it’ll probably sell better on the 3DS than the HD consoles.

Here’s hoping that Phantasy Star doesn’t sit out ANOTHER crossover. Also, I personally hope Valkyrie comes back with Namco.

  13. Crazytails says:

This looks like the best thing ever

  14. GamerTB says:

Temjin & Fei-Yen/Apharmd The Hatter, anyone?

  15. blarghen says:

It looks like a Tales game. Love the sprites/graphics. Hope the music can live up to it.

Hoping that it’ll have actual difficulty. Though, they should’ve had something for Phantasy Star. Seems like it’d have some comedy with .hack.

Touma and Cyrille representing Shining is a bit.. eh. Also going to nitpick at Yuri and Estelle. Not that I hate these four, it’s just.. iffy. Maybe Repede over Estelle.
