SEGA West delays Anarchy Reigns despite the game being completed

Platinum Games has said that SEGA has delayed Anarchy Reigns in Europe and North America, even though the game is all finished. Its release date was changed from July to  TBC (To Be Confirmed). This is what a Platinum Games representative said:

“That means ‘to be confirmed’, not ‘to be cancelled’. We worked really hard to make sure everybody could get the game on time. The game is fully localized. If you buy the Japanese version or any version, it’s going to have all the languages in it. We really wanted everybody online around the world to play together at the same time, but unfortunately that’s not going to happen. In the West, Sega is looking for the best time to put it out. It will still be out in July [in Japan]. There will still be ways for you to get it if you know where to go. We’re still 100 per cent behind the game and we still want to connect with you and play with you and have a good time. So let’s make sure that happens no matter what bad news we get.”

This is one of the few times I have seen a representative from a developer openly suggesting to import their game. How are prospects looking for a Western release? I don’t know, if ‘summer’ isn’t a good time to release this niche title, then when is a good time? Fall?  Not to mention SEGA West is acting like the game doesn’t exist. Anarchy Reigns comes out in Japan on 5th of July. Get your import pre-orders in.

It’s understandable that Platinum wants a game with an emphasis on its community to be a worldwide release….

I have to say, I’m starting to think PlatinumGames needs to look for greener pastures. (as in, another publisher.)

I believe they are, well they are working on another game called metal gear rising: revengance (no I kid you not that’s the title) for Konami

Truthfully speaking, they probably would not find those.

    Bummer. 🙁

The fall season is less crowded since most AAA games delayed into 2013 (Bioshock, Tomb Raider, Aliens), so there’s plenty of reason to get it out this year and not wait for the next.

It’s pretty obvious what he’s trying to say. Get your import on people.

Yeah I know they’re working on Metal Gear but that was a special offer. I dunno if they’ll be doing other things with Konami. It’s more them helping Kojima out.

Anyway, I’m truly bummed out by this news. I’m definitely not sure what I thought of the game, but I wish I got the chance to play it this summer. :/

I knew it was going to happen. Too much silence on sega west’s part.

Ah well, I’m a “sega sucker” so I’ll be importing this game.

Man, what is it with this company? The Tesla of video games, seriously.

This MIGHT wind up being the first game I import. We’ll see.

This is potentially great news. Could mean actual marketing is coming along to promote the game.

Could also mean that Sega West is fucking up the shit.

  8. Emmett The Crab says:

So are they saying the game will be region free?

  9. -nSega54- says:

^PS3 systems are region-free, yeah. One of the advantages to owning one, I s’pose. Most other systems are region-locked.

  10. GrantX360 says:

According to Play-Asia its region locked on 360. If it is unlocked I’ll pick this one up on import
