Jet Set Radio HD track list revealed, and it is very pleasing to the ears

Since the announcement of Jet Set Radio’s HD rerelease, the biggest gray area has been the game’s soundtrack. Like most games filled with licensed tunes, getting a complete or near complete track list is very difficult. Hell, look at Crazy Taxi. Great game, but just not the same with the entire soundtrack ripped out and replaced with new music. Thankfully, SEGA done good. Real good. After the break, check the full track list as well as learn which two tunes did not make the cut.

The following tracks have been confirmed to be in the game:

By Hideki Naganuma (SEGA)
“Grace and Glory”
“Humming the Bassline”
“Let Mom Sleep”
“Moody’s Shuffle”
“Rock It On”
“Sneakman”
“Sweet Soul Brother”
“That’s Enough”

By Guitar Vader
“Super Brothers”
“Magical Girl”

By Deavid Soul

“Dunny Boy Williamson Show”
“Miller Ball Breakers”
“On the Bowl (A.Fargus Remix)”
“Up-Set Attack”

Also including such popular tracks as …
“Electric Tooth Brush” by Toronto
“Everybody Jump Around” by Richard Jacques
“OK House” by Idol Taxi
“Bout the City” by Reps
“Funky Radio” by B.B. Rights
“Mischievous Boy” by Castle Logical
“Yellow Bream” by F-Fields
“Just Got Wicked” by Cold
“Dragula” by Rob Zombie
“Slow” by Professional Murder Music
“Improvise” by Jurassic 5
“Patrol Knob” by Mixmaster Mike
“Recipe for the Perfect Afro” by Feature Cast
“Funky Plucker” by Semi Detached

Jet Set Radio fans should notice that this soundtrack is actually larger than any other release of the game, thanks to SEGA mixing together all three regional soundtracks. “Dunny Boy Williamson Show”, for example, is only found on the Japanese releases of the game. Meanwhile “Recipe for the Perfect Afro” and “Funky Plucker” are from the PAL release. All the US exclusive tracks are in the rerelease. Now, the bad news. But it really isn’t THAT bad: Deavid Soul’s “Yappie Feet” did not make the cut. Not sure why, perhaps due to the use of certain samples? Also, PAL exclusive track “Many Styles” by O.B. One. Considering O.B. One’s only contribution was that song, could be a larger issue than simply the single track.

So in the end, two songs lost, one from all regions and one a regional exclusive. However, the new tunes outweigh the lost ones in my opinion. JSR HD now promises, for the first time, a coming together of all three region’s soundtracks. Still can’t get over the sting of the two cut songs? Download them, mix together a playlist, and enjoy via the custom soundtracks option!

I must be old as I’ve never heard of any of them. 🙁

Lived it in the Jp dreamcast tho so there will be some familiar music

This is quite good news over all, I thought there would be more tracks cut than that like at least 10 or 12, but only 2 cut? I can live with that, it’s a slight loss though with Yappie feet being excluded, I would rather have that than 1 or 2 of the particular tracks in the re-release, still, it’s no where near as bad as I was thinking it might end up, like what happened to the Crazy Taxi re-release for example, the less said about that the better. Good news all around, more than just a relief.

    • Yeah, I don’t think I’m breaching anything in saying that SEGA was well aware of Crazy Taxi HD really suffering due to lack of music. THey knew it sucked. So they made getting JSR’s music a top priority.

    • Robert says:

Was this because of SEGA underestimating the original Dreamcast soundtrack do you know or was it all licence issues? I’m thinking SEGA didn’t really have to try hard to get all these songs back on Jet Set Radio and Jet Set Radio seems much more licence heavy than Crazy Taxi was – at least music wise (as Crazy Taxi had other non music related licence agreements with Fila, Pizza Hut and Tower Records etc, and not just music licenses like the Offspring and Bad Religion). Crazi Taxi had a relatively much smaller soundrack than Jet Set Radio does too, so it might have been a lot easier to get all the original music back in than with Jet Set Radio.

    • Yes, I think they underestimated it and learned their lesson from it. Really, I think they did try to get the Crazy Taxi music, but not hard enough. Also, I think they learned that it would have been better to just not release the game at all rather than the version that we got. It did more harm than good to the franchise. Like, it’s that negative little footnote in the franchises history now.

I reckon another factor with the Crazy Taxi soundtrack is that Bad Religion/Offspring, or whoever owns their music if not them, command a much higher licensing fee than most of the artists on the JSR soundtrack. Rob Zombie and Jurassic 5 are probably the only artists on that same level.

Does anyone know if you’ll be able to somehow save your own images downloaded from the internet and use them as graffiti tags like you could on the Dreamcast original? Just imagine how much art tags you could save with the bigger harddrive…

Amazing news. I will CERTAINLY be buying this now, and I encourage everyone else to do the same thing.

This is the type of dedication we know you can have, Sega.

Incredible news….and I remember people yelling at me for saying that those 4 songs should have made it into Crazy Taxi re-release, lol.

A game that I already own and have beaten countless times without its complete soundtrack? Wouldn’t have seen the point.

Not only is this a damn-near complete soundtrack, but it has tracks I haven’t heard before. I can’t wait.

  6. Casher says:

Very pleasing news indeed, if there was a way we could have these two tracks in, it would be ultimate but who cares really, this is brilliant, now if it wasnt for that damn dracula track….I can barely stand that one.

  7. Eli says:

I’m just glad ‘Super Brothers’ made it…well maybe I’m not, since it’ll be stuck in my head for another ten years.

I’m so effing happy right now. 🙂

I’m buying it for PC and X360, eventually PS3. This is the first time I’ve been able to purchase a game in one of my favorite series and actually have the money go to SEGA. It’s less about buying something I “already own,” and more about showing support to something that I missed out on when it first came out.

  9. -nSega54- says:

I don’t see the hate for Dragula at all, I think it’s an awesome remix and a great track. It only plays during one level anyway.

  10. bmn says:

Many Styles is no real loss. No Yappie Feet is a shame though 🙁

Sega’s def done bidnis with this soundtrack though, especially with some of the stuff in their recent history (CT being the obvious example).

  11. Gagaman says:

Odd that they couldn’t get Yappie Feet seeing as it’s from the same album as all the other Deavid Soul tracks, but never mind.

  12. Geed says:

Thanks to Sega for reminding me how much Rob Zombie doesn’t fit with the rest of the soundtrack again.

  13. Andy C says:

Good job, SEGA. Though Hideki’s and Guitar Vaders’ tracks were all it really needed.

  14. Upsidedown Fuji says:

Aww I really liked Yappie Feet. But it’s really still a solid track list. I am glad SEGA fought hard to keep the JSR tracklist nearly complete. I wish they could have done the same with Crazy Taxi.

One big surprise was Jurassic5. I was pretty certain it wouldn’t make it in due to the band breaking up. Glad to see they’re in. 😀
