My Life With SEGA remembers the original Virtua Fighter

This week, AJ looks back on a SEGA classic: Virtua Fighter for the 32X.

Virtua Fighter; an arcade smash in 1993, thanks to its incredible 3D polygon-based fighters – incredible in 1993, that is – and realistic gameplay. It has spawned numerous sequels, spin-offs, not to mention an animated series….

This week, I’m reviewing the game that started it all. Does this sucker have enough fight left in it? Get in the ring and find out, bitch!

    Namco owns EVERYTHING to Sega.
It was Virtua Fighter who proved that 3D fighters would work, Tekken would never even exist if it wasn’t for Virua Vighter… that’s why I have this tremendous respect for this game…

Ok… time to dust my Virtua Fighter 3 disc and play some DC =)))

I agree, Tekken fanboys always annoyed the crap out of me. I dare to say, almost every Namco game ever made were just mirrored to be like SEGA arcade games. There are exceptions of course, but in the end of the day SEGA is the total beast of the arcade realm. Only if you blend Konami, Taito, Namco, Capcom and SNK together it would be a fair competition. ORA ORA ORA!

Yeah.. I spent half my childhood playing After Burner and Virtua Fighter 2… maaaan, Virtua Fighter 2 on arcades…. good times…

Lol that ending state sure was amusing. Great episode AJ :P.

I know you probably just do and review what you want to. As I really like your stuff i’d wish for you to get alot more people to watch. Since you’re really into the 32X so much, and since that game hasn’t gotten that much coverage by others, maybe it’d be a good idea to do a MLWS about Knuckles chaotix?

Just an idea, otherwise, keep rocking it 8)

Thanks, bro. I really appreciate it. 😀

Actually, November is going to be 32X month and I will be reviewing Knuckles Chaotix, as well as Metal Head, Mortal Kombat II and T-Mek. I’d like to touch on Kolibri and Tempo, but they’re tad pricey….

But I’ll try and snag a copy of each.

Mortal Kombat 2 for the 32X was way better then the genesis version with the sound effects from the arcade version. Can’t wait to see that in a future episode..

November, brother. I promise. Admittedly, the sound quality doesn’t sound much better than the Genesis, though it does have more sound effects/samples. The resolution is a major improvement. More colors, more fine detail….

What am I saying? I should save this for the review. Hehe.

Better than the Saturn ?. The Saturn is way ahead of the 32X version and VF Remix came out before 32X Virtua Fighter . Also NAMCO doesn’t always copies SEGA Drivers Eye’s came out before VR and system 21 came out before Model 1
