Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed coming to iOS in 2013

Given the success of the first title on iOS, it was only a matter of time until SEGA and Sumo Digital revealed that an iOS version of Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed is in the works. According to Gareth Williams, design director at Sumo Digital, the game is “absolutely” hitting the App Store but not until “after Christmas”. What isn’t decided, however, is how they’ll sell it. At the moment, it’s either sell it for a few dollars and include in-app purchases or give it away for free and allow players to buy characters. Whatever payment method they pick, the first game sold over two million so the sequel is sure to be a success.

I’m guessing no Android version again. Poo.

A Smartphone version but no japanese release… why Sega is not releasing this series here?

Put Sakura, Ryu Ga Gotoku, Phantasy Star and Shining on it and make a Japan release plz!

Why did the iPhone version get more sales than the real game? It’s inferior in every way.

    • The iOS version is inferior, true, but it is a really fun game and trumps the DS version. Plus, the price is much lower than any other version.

    • DCGX says:

Pretty much the price thing. Also, it’s more easily obtained via download and whatnot. Good for getting something immediately for the kiddies.

On a side note, has there been any info/screens/gameplay whatsoever about the 3DS version of Transformed?

    • Sumo said no screens til they smooth out the framerate. But I heard the latest Nintendo Power was supposed to have screens.

    • DCGX says:

Ah. Yeah considering the game is only a month or so away it’d be nice to see something. The closer to release it gets the less confidant I am of the game. This goes for any company with any game.
