Expand your mind as My Life with SEGA reviews Saturn expansion carts

Import Month continues with my review of the SEGA Saturn expansion cartridges from two arcade masters; Capcom and SNK. In addition, we’ll be looking at several arcade classics that utilize these carts, such as X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, Metal Slug, Amakusa’s Revenge: Samurai Showdown IV and King of Fighters ’95.

The Saturn was a capable 2D machine upon release. Is it even possible to improve on it without resorting to a more power console? See for yourself.

The SEGAbits 3rd anniversary contest is going on now – win prizes like a SEGA Genesis, Genesis games and brand new My Life With SEGA DVD’s! All the details can be found here.

X-men vs.Streetfighter was one of the only reasons i could brag about being a saturn owner.I remember them talking about VF3 being ported to saturn using some kind of ram card. You forgot about those awsome dungeons and dragons titles.I paid 70 bucks a piece to import those back then!!

X-Men vs Street Fighter was one of many reasons I wanted the Saturn. I didn’t find out about Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter and the SNK titles until much later. Damn, I played the shit outta’ that game once I had it. So amazing. I vaguely remember SEGA talking about Virtua Fighter 3 for Saturn. I wonder it would played out.

As for Dungeons & Dragons, I didn’t forget about it. I haven’t played Dungeons & Dragons, in the arcades or on Saturn, so I couldn’t do a proper review. I’ll get ahold of a copy at some point.

I still looking for a 4 meg action replay for the saturn, they are hard to find.

Great video! I remember importing some of those back in the day. Since 2010, I’ve been recollecting Saturn titles and am proud to say I got X-Men vs. Street Fighter and Marvel Superheroes back. SNK is great, but those Capcom games are what always got me to import.

BTW, you can find most import Saturn games on the cheap now.

Cheap?! Where?! Hahaha! My day job only pays me $8.50 an hour after 5 years of loyal service, no benefits. I can’t even afford the Japanese version of Burning Rangers. LOL!

Admittedly, I’d be able to snag more games if I wasn’t so picky about the condition. I want the case, in decent shape, with instructions.

I’m glad you liked today’s episode, bro. Here’s hoping folks like Godzilla Generations next week….yeesh.

P.S. You hate Apacolypse as much as I do? His fuckin’ drill still makes my eyes burn with rage to this day!

Question: Does the 4MB ram cart speed up other Saturn games?
