No offense to Miku Fans, but I hope this game doesn’t take priorety in the games that Sega should localize.

Agreed. Not ready to get behind this if there are still Yakuza and Valkyria Chronicles waiting.

    • matty says:

Other than Yakuza, what else is there?

Not being snarky; being genuinely curious.

    • Aki-at says:

Yakuza 5, Shining Ark and 7th Dragon 2020-ii are the recent Japanese only titles (This is ignoring the other 7th Dragon and Valkyria Chronicles 3 title)

Okay Shining Ark I have little faith in, but seeing how well Half A Minute Hero has done on Steam, I could see something like 7th Dragon 2020-ii doing well there (Plus a PSN download for PSVita)

Then there are those arcade games too!

Isn’t it safe to assume that, if they’re pulling a stunt like this, the decision to release it in the West has already been made? If it was as simple as “liking” a Facebook page or some other equivalent web-based action, Shenmue III would have been greenlit a long time ago.

No offense but Sega has no other games announced for the rest of this year in the west anyway and the budget to localize this game would be minimal. For instance Yakuza 5 requires a lot of time and money to localize with so much text, with this you only have to translate a hand full of menus. It would be folly not to release this game. Even if you are not a miku fan this is a great arcade rhythmn game in and of itself which is internally developed by Sega Japan themselves. You owe it to yourself if you are a Sega fan to play such a high quality Sega arcade game considering how rare it is we get to play them now a days.

Now, watch this do gangbusters sales in the U.S. (and maybe Europe).

  5. Trippled says:

Still, as a Sega fan I rather have the rest of the Model 2 games too.

  6. Aki-at says:

Regardless if this pushes Yakuza 5 down the line in titles deemed to be localised, I’m hoping this is another title that proves the upper management that titles like Miku, which is viewed as “niche” all have their own markets and can be big sellers if marketed and sold right.

Besides, AM2 worked on the 3DS one and getting more people to play AM2 games is A-okay in my books.

A Project Diva game is probably a dingle-berry compared to the resources needed to localize a Yakuza game. I’ve imported one of the PD games, and really all SEGA has to do is slap on some Roman characters that make sense to English speakers and bam – localization is done.

Hell, a fan translation for one of the games was made!

That said, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about the fate of the Yakuza franchise in the west just by observing SEGA being SEGA.

I’m on the same page more or less as Aki-at. By virtue of Sega West taking on Project Diva f I suppose it can be said that Yakuza 5 is basically “pushed down,” but I think the degree to which we can make the call on Yakuza 5’s status and whatever Project Diva f actually has to do with it is dubious.

I’m not into the Hatsune Miku games and I have continually posted in support of Valkyria Chronicles 3 and Yakuza 5, but there are a lot of people who want these games and I think Sega should understand that they need to take on more “niche” titles.

  7. Skateboard says:

I like the idea and believe there are enough people out there who would buy a Hatsune Miku game, but I would prefer Yakuza 5, Valkyria Chronicles 3 and Shining Ark getting localized.

  8. I’d like to See Border Break and Planet Harriers.
