Hey, if you are two of my favorite game developers of all time, you obviously have to hang out together and talk about my favorite unreleased game. According to Megan Scavio, GM of GDC they are in talks about Shenmue III. You know, that game that everyone wants SEGA to release.

Anyway it seems shenmue could be a sony exclusive then. I swear if this is the case, sony wins ALL competition, like will literallly wipe the floor with both nintendo and microsoft
Man if Mark convinced Yu Suzuki to make Shenmue III a PS4 exclusive, the PS4 would win the next gen by default.
Sega still owns the rights to Shenmue. It’s highly unlikely that in that case it will be a PS4 exclusive. Knowing that the PS kind of bombed Sega in the days.
So as to whether Shenmue will be a PS4, is pure conjection and maybe even wishful thinking.
You’re right that it’s conjecture, but there have been some Sony exclusives by Sega… for example, Yakuza and Valkyria Chronicles.
It’s exciting because we already know that Mark Cerny wants Suzuki to find a way to make Shenmue III, and both Cerny and Suzuki worked at Sega starting around roughly the same time. Cerny is now the lead designer of the PS4 team, so… maybe he can help out…?
Yes I agree about some Exclusives. But that is because Sega estimated that those games wouldn’t sell on the x360 platform.

Seriously though, I suppose any talk between developers that includes Shenmue III is a good thing.
Years go by, and all we get are false news about Shenmue. I don’t even want Shenmue right now. I rather see him make a few games before he makes Shenmue 3. Suzuki San hasn’t made a decent games in a decade and the three games he made bombed or were cancelled.
This will not happen, not now. Sony is still trying to recover and SEGA is playing it smart. So much investment for a product that in the end may amount to very little.
(Keep in mind both Hitman and Tomb Raider, each shipping over 3 million, are considered disappointments by Square, what would Shenmue need to ship to be considered a success)
It would be nice to happen, means I would be getting a Playstation 4 eventually.
I have to agree with Frogger, Suzuki was the king of game development when he made Shenmue and it’s sequel.
But ever since he left AM2, he hasn’t done anything of significance. In terms of content and quality he is perhaps the worst.
Psy-Phi was deemed unplayable and hence cancelled.
Sega Race Tv was good but nothing special.
Shenmue Town failed to be popular.
I do not think he is currently the man to make Shenmue. He has to prove himself again.

Why are people acting like this means that Sega’s getting ready to put Shenmue on the PS4?
This article says nothing of the sort, all it is, is just Yu Suzuki meeting another developer/tech head at a show where several other developers attend and meet with other developers, nothing much significant other than that so far.
OMG come on Mark Cerny, do one last big favor for SEGA and help get Shenmue 3 made. You owe the company that made you what you are today that AT LEAST!
BTW that picture alone means I will be getting sony ps4 system over Microsoft anyway. Something has got to have come out of that meeting why would Yu even be there if he wasnt discussing new projects!
