Operation Rainfall wants to know what SEGA game you want localized

OperationRainfallSEGAvote
There have been a ton of Japanese SEGA games that haven’t made it West and the guys from Operation Rainfall want to know what game you guys want localized. If you never heard of Operation Rainfall, it was a huge movement started because Nintendo refused to localize Xenoblade Chronicles, after the huge response the campaign got, Nintendo eventually released the game in North America.

Seems they want to help localize other games and are aiming their cross-hairs at some SEGA games.  On their site they have a poll with the following games listed:

  • Valkyria Chronicles 3
  • Yakuza 5
  • Yakuza 1 & 2
  • Shining Hearts

Right now Valkyria Chronicles 3 is winning with about 50% of the votes. I, on the other hand voted for Yakuza 5,  since I really want to play that game in English. What game did you vote for and why? Leave your opinions in the comment section.

Because you’re another shitty gayass nintendrone pretending to be a Sega fan? Real Sega fans already played that game in 2005…

  2. Hitrax says:

We do not need Yakuza 1/2/3 or 4 translated, we have had the best of both worlds on these, original Japanese dialogue with English subtitles.

I would say Segagaga needs to get translated, because that other team over on the Segagaga translation blog have no doubt given up years ago now, they haven’t updated in years.

I agree with this guy Segagaga needs an english release I wanna see that anime sonic cutscene and add it to my collection

  3. SOUP says:

I voted for Valkyria Chronicles 3.
I really want to play Yakuza 5, but I think it stands a better chance of coming out in the west as is.

Why would Yazkuza 1 & 2 need localization?

The localized PS2 script should be used for Wii U? Am I missing something?

valk 3 for me. yakuza games have declined and id enjoy valk 3 a lot more

  6. Sigma says:

Damn, that was a tough choice to make. Both VCIII and Yakuza 5 are amazing games that NEED to come over. Haven’t played the PSP Shining games but Blade and Ark seem pretty interesting.

  7. Félix says:

    Valkyria Chronicles III

As SOUP said, Yakuza 5 will probably be localized anyways.

I just hope that people don’t vote for the HD remake (just go play the originals, they are not that hard to get) and I don’t think that a Shining spin-off would stand a chance against Valkyria Chronicles III in therms of quality.

  8. I voted for the Shining game. I would olay Yakuza 5, but 1&2 again, I don’t know. I would hate to see the dubbing come back for #1. Also, Valkyria Chronicles was a huge let down when it went to PSP. I never finished #2. They should be on consoles.

Yakuza 5. Don’t be so quick to assume it will get localised, there needs to be sufficient demand first.

This vote could end up being detrimental to the games that don’t get picked. If SEGA *was* considering a localization of Yakuza 5, and it doesn’t get enough votes, they might use that as evidence that the game has no legs in the US, and scrap the project altogether.

Valkyria Chronicles 3! I love the Yakuza series, but Valkyria Chronicles 1+ 2 brought the best modern SRPG experience and I want more! Shining Hearts seems to be a nice little game, but Ark or Blade would have been better. SEGA should bring them all to the west. It’s a shame they haven’t already teamed up with someone.

  11. SeanNOLA says:

I picked Valkyria Chronicles 3 because I feel like it has the highest likelihood of being picked up as a PS+ game later, and that could give it enough traction to warrant a console sequel.

I was really surprised how much support Shining Hearts was getting in the comments – I haven’t played a single non-Camelot Shining title that I felt was worth my time. NIS and Atlus are already making those types of games – I expect more from SEGA.

I’d personally rather that SEGA put a moratorium on the use of the word “Shining” until they work a deal with Nintendo to borrow Camelot. Otherwise, they’re just diluting the brand.

Oh, and Yakuza 5 looks pretty rad as well, I just think I’d be more likely to play through VC3 on the go.

I went with VC3 over Yakuza 5. We’ve been fortunate to get the last two Yakuza games, but they never really had big sales over here. I think it’s time for Valkyria Chronicles to get a second chance. Especially after the crapfest high school drama that was part 2, this one takes it back to it’s darker tones of citizens being forced to become soldiers. If they were smart, they’d make a version compatible with PSP, Vita AND PS3 just to widen the audience.

My second choice would be Yakuza 1 & 2 HD since it would be on both Wii U and PS3 at an affordable price that could widen the Yakuza fanbase since it’s the start of the series.

  13. Ben says:

Both Yakuza 5 and Valkyria Chronicles 3 are close in the poll; I doubt its existence will do damage to the chances of seeing either localized. I voted Yakuza 5.

VC3 will simply not happen unless it becomes a digital release on a platform that’s not a Sony handheld.

    where’s Segagaga on the list?

We’re already getting Project Diva so I can’t think of anything.
