Eurogamer runs a Condemned: Criminal Origins retrospective

SEGA’s Condemned: Criminal Origins was one of the Xbox 360’s launch titles, and later the game received a sequel on both Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. I loved this game when I first played it, and it has even made some of our lists of sequels we want to see. The fine people over at Eurogamer seem to like the game as well, since they posted up a retrospective article on it.

Did any of you guys enjoy the first game? If so, why? Let us know!

The original was a very dry game and I did not like it.

The sequel on the other hand was the FPS Streets of Rage that Yuzo Koshiro wanted to make!

I thought the original was decent. Definitely not without its flaws but it was fun.

Far better than its sequel, which was almost unspeakably awful, I thought.

The original was a bit more serious and down to earth. The sequel was a hodgepodge of horror tropes all over the place.

Both were absolutely awesome, but I felt the first one had a stronger effect as it was the first.

Trailers for it blew my mind at the time and wasn’t surprised at all that a game that daring had the Sega logo preceding it.

I would love for this series to continue on. The forensic investigation setup of the first one was brilliant.
