Sonic Lost World Getting Pre-order DLC Featuring Omochao

soniclostworldpreorderheader

In these modern times video games often have pre-order bonuses to convince the consumer to buy the game. Usually this is some kind of skin, extra mission or unlockable character. For Sonic Lost World there’s already the Deadly Six edition for everyone who buys a first run copy, but apparently Sega thought this wasn’t incentive enough.

Depending on where you pre-order Sonic Lost World, you can get a some extra items or an exclusive skin for Omochao. In the UK you can get a rare gold Omochao RC Gadget and five extra Black Bomb Color Powers at ShopTo. In the US Gamestop has an Omochao RC Gadget with a Sonic skin and at Amazon.com the pre-order bonus is 25 extra lives.

The mention of the items being rare makes me think they’re in the game, just difficult to attain. The preorder incentive is receiving the items immediately. So gold omochao is likely in the US version and vice versa.

They’ll probably be paid DLC eventually too, though I don’t think the Casino Nights DLC from Generations was ever made available on 360/PS3. I know PC gamers can buy it separately.

But 25 extra lives, really? It’s not like extra lives are hard to accumulate in Sonic games anyway.

    25 lives dlc seriously ?

I remember when Omochao was a downloadable kart racer in Sonic Adventure 2. In an Opa-Opa vehicle. For free.

I think these are just early unlocks for pre-order incentive. They aren’t making the game any more expensive than the base price, and the lack of the word “exclusive” makes them appear to be within the standard game.

Tails Doll has nothing on Sonic Omachao in terms of creepiness.

You have to laugh at these “incentives”. I kind of don’t see the Sonic re-skin being a good incentive, given that it looks too scary for kids.

Extra Lives for the tears of casual gamers when they can’t get past the second level. 😛

I feel like they’re taking a page from Sonic Dash, offering up early unlocks and bonus amounts of in-game items as pre-order incentives. I’m almost inclined not to switch to Gamestop because I’d rather unlock the Sonic skin.

    His eyes… They are hypnotizing…
