SEGA Europe to publish Persona 4 Arena Ultimax in Europe, SEGA also publishing in Australia

P4AUEuropeThis NeoGAF topic reported that Persona 4 Arena Ultimax’s (the expansion/sequel to Persona 4 Arena) PEGI classification was recently registered. That registration lists the game’s publisher as SEGA Europe. The move comes across a notable display of the new relationship between Atlus and Sega, fast approaching its first anniversary. Towards the end of May, Atlus took over distribution rights for Persona 4 Arena in Europe from Zen United, delisting the game from PSN in the process. Zen United previously handled distribution of other Atlus games in Europe, including Rune Factory 4 and Persona 4 Arena.

It’s worth noting that the system listing only shows Playstation 3, while the Japanese, North American, and Australian releases are seeing Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 releases. If you search through the PEGI database, you’ll find out that PEGI produces individual classifications per system (this was the case for Persona 4 Arena.)

In any case, here’s to hoping that the tortured story of Persona 4 Arena’s distribution in Europe is avoided. It is suggested in the above-mentioned NeoGAF topic that European media marketing and distribution company Koch Media could handle distribution of the game, continuing a stable partnership between SEGA Europe and Koch Media borne of the aftermath of the 2012 SEGA Europe restructuring. Besides handling other SEGA titles like the Football Manager games since their partnership announcement, Koch Media coincidentally also handled Atlus’s puzzle-platformer / adventure game Catherine through their subsidiary Deep Silver, giving the game a PAL-5 release (release with English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian language options.)

The Australian classification of Persona 4 Arena Ultimax in Europe that lists SEGA as publisher can be seen here. The first iteration of Persona 4 Arena was also published by Zen United in Australia.
