The crossover chaos continues in Project X Zone 2: Brave New World for Nintendo 3DS

Project-X-Zone-1

Project X Zone, the 2012 crossover for the Nintendo 3DS which threw together SEGA, Bandai Namco and Capcom characters into an epic adventure, is set to return! According to a report from website e-duessee, a sequel is in the works for the 3DS entitled Project X Zone 2: Brave New World. The article itself is a report of an April 7th Bandai Namco press event held in Milan at which the game was announced alongside another unannounced title, Saint Seiya: Soldiers’ Soul for the PS4, PS3, and PC. The original article has since been edited to remove the mentions of the games (whoops!) but thankfully NeoGAF caught it before the removal.

What are your thoughts on another Project X Zone title? Have any characters you’d like to see make an appearance? I’m hoping to see Mega Man, Pac-Man and Sonic, as well as an expanded SEGA cast including Ryo Hazuki and some 1980s characters.

I’d really like to see Alis and a Wren cyborg from Phantasy Star. How about the Sega console girls, too? I could see them having Tronne Bonne qualities where their special attacks are characters from their respective system IP’s.

Awesome, I hope the second game is released west too! I missed some old characters from namco x capcom in the original title. About new Sega characters, Eggman needs to be in it with a horde of machines, and it would be great to have “tank” units, like Kobus, the Edelweiss or Temjin, it would add a new gameplay mechanic too.

Isn’t the new title the same title for Namco X Capcom’s theme? Is that just a coincidence or a hint of what’s to come?

If the sequel happens then they should definitely bring in at least Sonic, Megaman, and Pac-Man. They’re the mascots of their game companies after all.

Yeah, I mean I’m not calling for the characters to take over the game’s storyline – I liked how they let other characters carry the story in the original. But it would be neat to see such iconic characters play some sort of role similar to Kingdom Hearts and its treatment of Mickey.

What would be really great is an improved combat system! Perhaps something more akin to Valkyria Chronicles, whereas each unit has a class with strengths and weaknesses and you can choose what units to have deployed. Also, they should reconsider some of the character roster- where’s Sonic and Shadow? Where’s Beat and Gum?
