IRVINE, Calif. – JAN. 25, 2016Valiant citizens of Gallia, to arms!  Bid farewell to your loved ones, because it is time to defend our peaceful nation from the Empire. Valkyria Chronicles, the critically acclaimed PlayStation®3 tactical RPG, will be remastered and released in the Americas and Europe on a brand new battlefront: The PlayStation®4! Valkyria Chronicles Remasteredbrings the World War II-inspired story, the beloved characters, and the mythology of the Valkyrur to life in 1080p/60fps HD. In the world of Valkyria Chronicles, the year is 1935 E.C., and the continent of Europa has been plunged into the Second Europan War between the Autocratic East Europan Imperial Alliance — also known as The Empire — and the Atlantic Federation over the precious resource Ragnite. The Empire is sweeping through the continent like an unchecked wildfire and has its eyes set on the rich Ragnite deposits of the Principality of Gallia. Although peaceful Gallia remains neutral in the conflict, its citizens will need to defend home and country against the inevitable invasion. Players follow Lieutenant Welkin Gunther and the vaunted Squad 7 of the Gallian Militia as they take on the seemingly insurmountable forces of the Empire.
Valkyria Chronicles Remastered features:
  • HDCANVAS” Graphics Engine – The stunning, painterly graphics return, but this time in 1080p/60fps high definition quality! Battles and cutscenes are conveyed like a vibrant tapestry in motion.
  • “BLiTZ” tactical battle system – Part overhead turn-based strategy, part RPG, and part real-time 3rd person shooter, the” BLiTZ” system is an innovative mechanic that makes battles simultaneously strategic and action-packed. Players will command and control their soldiers and tanks as they take on the Empire in 30 different battlefronts.
  • Memorable storyline – Set against the backdrop of a world war, Gunther, Alicia, Largo and the rest of the fierce members of Squad 7 fight for personal reasons in the name of freedom, and the hope against all odds of liberating Gallia from Empire control, all in the face of the terrible realities of war.
  • DLC Included – Besides the core game, Valkyria Chronicles Remastered includes all previously released DLC: Hard EX Mode, Edy’s Mission, Selvaria’s Mission, and Challenge of the Edy Detachment.

    YYEEEESSS! WHERE DO I PREORDER???

    • Artwark says:

You do realize that the game is also on PC right? And it can run the same way as the PS4 version right?

What are you hyped about this being ported to PS4? It still won’t convince SEGA to localize VC 3 or that new game they are working on.

    • Brianzilla2004 says:

They’re probably excited for the same reason that SEGA found it worthwhile to port the game over to PS4 in the first place. “Why are you happy about this?” in the current context is a really stupid question that shows a complete lack of empathy.

Support of the brand absolutely can encourage SEGA to localize other games from the series, as well as port other titles like the PSP game to current consoles. Excitement such as that expressed by Nei can only do good for fellow western fans of VC.

    • Artwark says:

Has it though? As of now, we haven’t even gotten Skies of Arcadia from them even after they slapped two characters from VC and yet somehow, those two weren’t enough to bring the port to PC…..wow.

This port isn’t going to make SEGA make more VC for the west. The second game didn’t sell well enough to make VC3 happen in the west so I highly doubt that this port will make SEGA remake VC2 and 3 not because its impossible in tech wise because they have to rebuild it from scratch since those two games were made on a handheld, but because budget wise, its just won’t work out for them because they can’t seem to understand what the hell the western market wants them to do.

    • A few gaps in your logic: The Skies of Arcadia cameos in Valkyria Chronicles were not a gauge for fan interest in a Skies of Arcadia HD port. They were easter eggs from the development team. Sales of the original did, however, persuade SEGA into releasing Valkyria Chronicles 2 and 3, a PC port, and a PS4 remaster of the original.

“This port isn’t going to make SEGA make more VC for the west.” How do you know? This is all your negative opinion. Notice how the PC release of Valkyria Chronicles was a success in the West, and now we are seeing the PS4 version receiving a physical and digital release? Right there is a port that prompted SEGA to release more Valkyria Chronicles in the West.

SEGA of America and SEGA Europe, like many Western game companies, lost interest in supporting the PSP. As evidenced by Azure Revolution and Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, the future of the franchise has shifted back to home consoles and PC which are a much more active market than PSP.

Also, no need to be a jerk to Brianzilla2004 for wanting the other games brought West. I personally think SEGA should focus on new Valkyria Chronicles titles and not remaking the PSP versions for modern consoles. But I’m not going to shoot the notion down, because it is entirely possible to remake 2&3. It will take time and money, but that is no different from the time and money spent on Azure Revolution.

    • Chaos says:

Easy. Not everyone has a gaming pc, nor wants one. And why wouldn’t sega localize the new one if this does well?

    • Erm, because I want to play it on PS4 maybe and not PC?

“You do realize that the game is also on PC right?” – This applies to a lot of games…

  2. Gen says:

At last. This is how Sega should do business.

  3. MowMow789 says:

I had a feeling they’d bring it to the west. It wouldn’t require much work.

  4. SkyBlue says:

When is Spring!?! Do they mean March-May? Or more specifically March 23rd to June 23rd? (If we’re going by Equinox’s)

  5. Nei says:

Randomly realized this means I can play Valkyria Chronicles on Vita. This is too beautiful for this world, I am unworthy.

  6. segaismysavior says:

I will gladly triple dip on this gem.
