  1. Sieghardt says:

Did they specifically say Shining Force like the old games and not just Shining like the new games?

  2. Kori-Maru says:

    Yes Sakura Wars!

  3. J.R. says:

Did Sakura Wars really need to be on this list considering the last one to come out was not that long ago. I feel like revived franchises should have stuck with ones that haven’t seen a proper entry in 10+ years. I also find it amazing it somehow has so many more fans than other more significant SEGA franchises.

    • J.R. says:

I’m serious it is easy to stack online polls and I refuse to believe the majority of SEGA fans are that invested in an obscure JRPG especially over some of their more critically acclaimed ones.

    • George says:

Well, the survey didn’t have pre-selected options for the revival question. It just asked ‘What franchise that came out before 2014 do you want to see revived’. You had to write it in.

Also note that this is from SEGA Japan, its not hard to see Sakura Wars win considering that the SEGA Saturn was the best selling SEGA console in the region and most Sakura War games are exclusive on that console.

    • Spirate says:

The last proper entry came out in 2005, so that is around 10+ years ago.

    • Davey says:

Yes, it’s a classic series in Japan and the last one that came out was in 2005, so 11 years ago. It got released in the west 5 years after it was made and was met with high praise from critics which is even more shocking considering the game was a generation old at that point. It deserves a revival.

  4. ka me ha me haaaaa says:

Segata Sanshiro: resurrection and the return to glory

  5. Albert Singleton says:

Vector Man should have been on that list!

  6. Butt says:

Glad Skies made the top ten. Especially since it wasn’t a default option anywhere else on the poll, with all those other great series likely to catch someone’s eye before they could write it in.

  7. I agree with all of this, as in I would gladly buy individual games of these characters/series…especially Segata Sanshiro

  8. Davey says:

Really, any of those being revived would make me so happy. I’m also super happy that the highest ranked non-human character is NiGHTS! 😀

  9. Piotr says:

    Why no love for Ristar?

  10. H Hog says:

Seeing Shenmue on the “most hoped revival” list is kinda odd to me, seeing as we already know there’s a new game in the making. It’s cool to see the likes of Shining Force and Skies of Arcadia in there, though. The lack of Phantasy Star (in a non Online form) is a bit disappointing.
Also seeing Alex Kidd make the “favourite character” list at all gives me a tiny glimmer of hope. =P

    • matt says:

Yeah I wish there was a new Phantasy Star game. I think this list appeals mainly to Japanese fans and seems to hit at Saturn / DC era most.

  11. sybnios says:

    There is no hope…

  12. Miguel says:

Don’t forget Streets of Rage and Shinobi (Joe Musashi) or maybe Thunder Force😀

  13. Slyvoz says:

    WOO JET SET RADIO

  14. AMGermany says:

Virtual-On and staff like that is cool but I would like to see Virtua Fighter most because I think I could spend the most time on it. Otherwise…… a Shinobi on home console would be great

  15. MShow says:

Jet Set Radio, Kid Chameleon, Golden Axe. Do it Sega.

  16. Miguel says:

    How about Dragon Force 😀

  17. Manner says:

Jet Set Radio was released for PC, XBOX, Playstation, Android and iOS. Why not Jet Set Radio Future? I don´t get it with the old dreamcast franchise. We need the XBOX version one ported as happen to the first game. Why the waiting? I know, you are investigating like Shenmue. If it was Sonic you people release it in a easy two fingers as usual. Stop being Boring Sega and release the games we want!

  18. Beat says:

    Jet set radioooooooo

  19. Beat says:

    Jet set radiooooooooo

  20. JSRF says:

Sega we want JSRF so badly, even if not a new one or remaster, just a port on to pc or the new gen consoles would be nice.

  21. S.K. says:

No Crazy Taxi and not enough of you invested in Dreamcast ;( But at least NiGHTS made it to the top ten.
