Contest: Puyo Puyo Tetris Physical Copy Giveaway – Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 4

puyotetris contest

Surprise, we’ve got another contest going on! This time it’s for the puzzle crossover game, Puyo Puyo Tetris. A game by SEGA that combines the long running Puyo Puyo series with the world famous Tetris, in a fun fast mixture where you can play either Puyo Puyo or Tetris, or maybe even both! Puyo Puyo Tetris was originally a title released back in 2014, but recently got a release outside of Japan for western fans to try out for themselves for the Nintendo Switch and Playstation 4.

With this contest, we’re going to do things slightly differently. Unlike our past contests, the copies we’re distributing are physical copies, and we’re distributing both the Playstation 4 and Nintendo Switch versions. There are exactly 5 copies of each version, and a lucky 10 winners can potentially get their hands on a Puyo Puyo Tetris copy for free.

The contest is running on both SEGAbits.com and Twitter.com/SEGAbits, meaning that you can enter in both to double your chances of winning. Should a winner be selected more than once, we will select another winner in one of the contests so that nobody gets more than one copy of the game.

Here’s how to enter:

SEGAbits.com: In the comments section of this post, tell us your favorite Puyo Puyo or Tetris moments. The games, the characters, your experiences, anything is fair game. When leaving your comment, please use a valid email address in the email field so we can contact you. Email addresses are not public. Also it’s recommend to specify which version you want to prevent potential confusion.

Twitter.com/SEGAbits: Retweet the contest tweet and follow SEGAbits on Twitter, and tell us your favorite Puyo Puyo or Tetris moments and mention “Switch” or “PS4” so we know which version you want to win.

The contest will last until May 15 next week at 5PM EST, and this applies to American regions only. Best luck to everyone who’s involved!

Also don’t forget that the Bayonetta PC code giveaway contest is still running until May 11th, so contribute to that too if you have not yet.

Beating Hard Mode on Puyo Puyo Sun. Which will, by the way, destroy you if you don’t have a decent lead in 20 seconds.

  2. Miikko says:

Not sure my comments got through, so I’ll do a short tl;dr:

My favorite Tetris moments come from Tetris DS marathon modes Nintendo nostalgia

My favorite Puyo Puyo moments as an American come from Kirby Avalanche and Dr Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine for their quirky personalities!

  3. Rod G says:

    =Switch Version=

In Puyo Puyo Tetris, pretty much most single-player story mode lines with Schezo. Also, the NES/SNES Tetris games still hold up well, great for work breaks and such.

  4. MDashK says:

My favorite Puyo moment… I’d say FEVER MODE in Puyo Pop Fever! The more combos the better!

My favorite Tetris moment… The BGM in Gameboy. Definitelly the BGM.

Playing Tetris with my mom in those old portable 9999 in 1. One of the only games she used to play. We always got her a new one since they were prone to breaking.

    I forgot, ps4 version

  7. Antonio D'Ambrosio says:

My favorite moment in puyo puyo (or as we know it here mean bean machine) was when I was garbage at the game and got a chain of 8 by complete accident.

    (Ps4 version)

  8. Andrew Castellucci says:

Favorite Puyo Poyo moment? In Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine, saving yourself from imminent demise at the last moment and getting a gigantic chain to completely reverse roles against all those evil robots in single player mode. Plus, multiplayer was absolutely perfect for this type of game, getting to ruin (or be ruined by) your friends.

I played a demo version of Puyo Puyo and the best part about this game is that I can play with my wife without any handicaps given. Other games such as Bomberman and Mario Kart are a bit harder to control for her but Puyo Puyo Tetris is very easy to learn and does not require much control inputs. Another great feature is that you can switch from original Tetris mode to Puyo Puyo mode! Briiiiiiiiliant!! While I really wanted to purchase this game on Amazon, I felt like $40 was a bit too much for this game so I have been waiting for a used one to appear later on….
This giveaway would help me very much building another level of relationship with my wife at home!
Happy wife = happy life! ^_^y

    Thank you for your consideration!

  10. Filipe Andrade says:

My favorite Puyo Puyo moment was when I was playing Puyo Puyo Tsuu on the Mega Drive for the first time. There was the new “sousai” (or “offsetting”) rule that I wasn’t aware of, and after playing Dr. Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine for so long, I thought I would be very good at the game, but that new rule really made me have my ass kicked so hard. lol It was really tough to get good at the game again, but I was really satisfied when I finished it. (PS4 version)

  11. Steve says:

  13. Michael Powell says:

PS4 version and my favorite puyo puyo moment for me is beating Dr.Robotnik on Dr.Robotnik Mean Bean Machine. Took me many times, but I did it!!

  14. Koopady says:

Puyo Puyo was one of my childhood games thanks to Kirby’s Avalanche. Once, in the very first stage against Waddle Dee in the story mode, I was slowly practicing chain building, just focusing on my board, when suddenly Waddle Dee pulls off an 8x chain. I was so shocked and amused! To this day, I can’t recall getting him to chain anywhere past 2x since that event. (Switch)

  15. RushDawg says:

I’m relatively new to Puyo Puyo, but my favourite memory was when I was able to clear the entire screen in Puyo Puyo Tsuu on SEGA 3D Classics Collection last year.

I’d prefer to win the Switch version if I’m lucky enough. Thanks for the giveaway!

  16. Jacob M says:

I’ve only played Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine but my favorite moment was when I finally beat like, three bosses in a row while I was drinking my Shamrock Shake. I was so excited. (Keep in mind that I was only like, thirteen at the time and this was the most exciting my life got) Also, PS4 version please.

  17. I loved Puyo Puyo Fever for the Gamecube. I used to play it with my friends when they would come over and we have lots of great memories playing that game. Of course, Tetris is classic and brings me back to playing it in the arcades for the first time back in the 80’s and was my first introduction to puzzle games, which became a big part of my life.

  18. Marco B says:

My favourite moment happens everytime someone says or I read the word ‘Tetris’; I automatically hear the game music and the sound of the blocks landing! Music and sounds ingrained in my head, for life. 🎼🎮🕺🏻

  25. Evil Sonic says:

My favorite part in Puyo has to be the Fever mode in Puyo Pop Fever, I love how it changes the gameplay up a bit and I love the music change during it. It really helps Fever mode feel frantic, but in a fun way.

  26. jeroen says:

    Wheee! A contest!

Anyway, I loved Puyo Puyo since I played Robotnik’s Mean Bean Machine 🙂
I still play Puyo Puyo Fever in the Dreamcast, because I think Puyo Puyo is the only good block game next to Tetris that’s actually good, with lots of replayability.
Anyway, my favourite part is always when a ‘trap’ works and you rack up an enormous count.

  27. JackBanditt says:

Best Tetris moment ever was that one time I actually got a straight piece when I needed it. Man, that was wild.

    Switch

  28. MrShoestore says:

Best Tetris moment is finding my gameboy after 10 years, flipping it on and finding that there was enough juice in the batteries to play the copy of tetris that was still in it after all these years.

  29. segamon says:

My favorite Puyo Puyo moment is playing through the Game Gear Japanese version of Puyo Puyo on an emulator. This was my first exposure to Puyo Puyo and I was immediately hooked! It is a great puzzle game concept and makes for a fun game even with simple graphics. My preferred version would be for the Switch. Thanks for an awesome website guys!

  30. Simon Handley says:

Waiting for my Mum to finish playing Puyo Puyo 2 (aka Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine) as I gazed hopelessly at my newly received copy of Sonic 3 😭😭😭

  31. Yan Pigeon says:

I miss the Super Tetris series on Super Nintendo, It was a lot of fun and had interesting modes! I would like to play Puyo Puyo Tetris now since it’s a new experience for me, i’ve never played the Puyo Puyo series.

  32. Jonathan Tung says:

Favorite Moment would have to be the very first time my dad introduced me to Tetris. Since then, I was pretty much hooked on the game, and would play it on whatever console I had.

    (Switch version)

  33. When I lived in Japan, I played Super Puyo Puyo against a friend who beat me every time. Batankyu!
