SEGA Slots mobile released worldwide featuring classic SEGA IPs

SEGA has now launched their mobile app SEGA Slots world wide. This lets you play ‘some of the fastest, most addictive slots machines around!’ according to their product description. These addictive slots machines just happen to have some of our favorite SEGA IPs attached to them. While its cool to see our favorite characters being represented, its a tad sad that they are stuck in a casino style mobile gambling game.

Regardless SEGA Slots, as of launch, has the following Classic SEGA IPs represented:

  • Sonic the Hedgehog
  • Shinobi
  • Super Monkey Ball
  • Golden Axe
  • Sonic Casino Nights
  • Super Monkey Ball Pirates
  • Samba De Amigo

According to the product description, they will be adding a ton of new IPs as time goes on. While I haven’t installed the game yet,  its worth noting how most of the artwork assets used are old, except for Golden Axe. Which features new, more mobile generic art work.

As for people getting up and arms about a mobile gambling app titled ‘SEGA Slots’, SEGA put the following disclaimer:

  • This game is intended for an adult audience.
  • This game does not offer “real money gambling” or an opportunity to win real money or prizes.
  • Practice or success at social casino gaming does not imply future success at “real money gambling”.

What are your thoughts on SEGA Slots? Will you play it?

    RIP Sega once again

  2. Centrale says:

Ugh, I really hate to see this kind of thing. A kids’ IP like Monkey Ball being used to decorate a gambling game that is gleefully described as addictive. Chalk this up to the sleazy influence of Sammy.

  3. Hitrax says:

Pretty pointless then for the most part then unless I’m missing something? One thing to not be real gambling but if it isn’t even a simulation practice, and well as a way for Sega to generate any revenue at all from it, it begs the question of what the actual point of it is, as neither Sega or it’s consumers benefit from it, beyond some curio to get the brands out there in public again or something.

  4. Hitrax says:

Unless it’s just a starting point with more to be announced of course, as loads more Sega IPs make their way to the platform.

  5. I_Miss_Sega_of_Old says:

Ah, this must have been what Sega meant when it said it would revisit old franchises… JUST LIKE KONAMI.

    “Super Monkey Ball Pirates” ?

I think we know the real reason. As good as many of SEGA’s things are, you guys in SEGA just ran out of ideas.
After Kunoichi (Nightshade) you guys dropped completely off the radar, focused more on mobile game consoles or mobile app games than actual real games.
Many hardcore SEGA fans have come to say that the SEGA guys have gotten lazy, so people make fan games in order to give life to what SEGA just dropped like a hot potato.

I myself am drawing my own universe of Shinobi, Joe Musashi and the Oboro clan to satisfy my tastes.
C’mon guys you have material you can build on that even fans like me send you and you’re not even TRYING to take advantage of the hints and advice of fans, you’re doing something seriously wrong, and i KNOW you can do better than this, every commentator here feels that way too.
