Panzer Dragoon: Remake and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake announced

It has been officially announced that Forever Entertainment and SEGA will be releasing Panzer Dragoon: Remake and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake! The first title is due out by late 2019, and while we don’t have platforms just yet it is likely that it will release to modern consoles and possibly PC. The games will feature brand new graphics and will remain faithful to the game’s original story. It is mentioned that “several modifications” will be made to the game to make it “more attractive to modern players”. This could be disconcerting, if they veer too far off from the original gameplay, but we’re hoping it isn’t too radically different.

The official press release:

Forever Entertainment together with SEGA Holding Co., Ltd. from Japan will co-create and publish Panzer Dragoon: Remake and Panzer Dragoon II Zwei: Remake. The premiere of the first part is planned before the end of 2019!

Panzer Dragoon: Remake is a refreshed version of Panzer Dragoon. The original version of the game had its premiere on the Sega Saturn console in 1995 and was well received by both players and critics. The entire Panzer Dragoon series has been repeatedly remade and released on many platforms. The last re-launch took place in April 2018 on Xbox One, where players can play Panzer Dragoon Orta with a backward compatibility. The new version of the game will be characterized by a completely new graphics compatible with today’s standards and several modifications of the game, making it more attractive to modern players, while remaining faithful to the original in terms of story. The first materials from the game will be presented in the upcoming months!

This is fantastic news! I own all of the originals, but it’s about time this series gets re-introduced to gamers. I hope if these two sell well, we’ll see a remake for Saga.

Awesome that they’re back given it and the Saturn’s sad fate. Orta and Zwei were fun from what I’ve played and I hope they won’t be Microsoft exclusive or be plagued with DRM like Denuvo ala Yakuza and Valkyria Chronicles if they wind up on the PC. Being mobile with Switch would also be a fun prospect and it’s always great that an old IP of Sega gets to shine again for a new generation as Shenmue has. Maybe a Saga remake or even sequel is in the cards after this in the vein of Shenmue? Hope that if they do go ahead with a Saturn or even a Dreamcast Mini, the roster will consist of such underrated games like the Panzer Dragoon series!

Holy moly, this great news! I hope that the music remains awesome. I also hope that the core of the games will be unchanged to maintain the awesome gameplay.

Looks like SEGA werent lying this time when they said theyll revive old IPs. Of course, Im STILL waiting on that Jet Set Radio love

  5. NinjaMaster says:

Let us hope this is NOT a mobile game, since the chosen developer has a certain experience on that.

And yeah, I just can’t always trust Sega.
