Phantasy Star Online 2 is coming to Xbox One and PC in the West

If you gave up on Phantasy Star Online 2 coming out in the West, Microsoft has swooped in to put a smile on your face. Phantasy Star Online 2 will be coming out West, free-to-play, on the Xbox One console and PC. According to the trailer it is being powered by Microsoft’s cloud service Azure, which makes me assume this will be completely separate from the Japanese version.

There is still a lot to find out, including if this is going to be up to the latest update to the Japanese release and how they will handle strange tie-ins that the Japanese version has gotten. Regardless, we will all be able to team up and destroy creatures with a official English release.

7 years, it was worth the wait

I’m 100% sure they won’t be adding the crossover content and events, so that’s a pass. Enjoy your watered down version, I guess. Also Azure cloud sucks.
Japanese servers were wide open for everyone, should’ve played it there instead of waiting and crying about it.
Also, not to brag but I’ve become proficient in Japanese now thanks to playing the game since open beta without the translation patch and away from any other western players (i.e. on a “foreigner” server), being forced to read, listen and communicate exclusively in a foreign language does wonders for learning it.

    Waste of potential.

How much did MS pay for this one??

PC does make sense, but it really needs a western version for PS4 and Switch.

Many gamers will not be buying an Xbox just to play 1 game.

All that said, still cool to see it finally announced to the west!

    Well, not in Europe…

Is it coming out late and on platforms I do not play on? Yes.

Is it finally going to be playable to someone like me who did not want to wade through guides, patches and language barriers to enjoy it? Yes.

Am I excited to see that SEGA is listening to us finally? Hell yes.

Stop spreading the word “PC”. It’s Windows 10 only. Any device (phone, tablet) with this malware installed will be able to run the game, while PCs with an older OS won’t.

Are you seriously calling Windows 10, an official OS release by Microsoft a “malware”?

Because Win XP isn’t supported and Win7 will soon stop being updated so you will have more chances to get a malware on them

At least it came out on Steam eventually…
