  1. Sega: We keep saying we’ll stop outsourcing, you keep believing us!

I’m assuming this is because they were pleased with the company’s work on Panzer Dragoon. I’m fine with Sega partnering and outsourcing if the quality is high – Sega can’t do everything in house.
I’m hopeful that PD ends up being great, which would make me excited for this, especially if they can capture the feel of the light gun experience.

Now, if PD sucks….well, then crap.

  2. That’s part of the problem, Sega has a track record of being a bad judge of character. For every Bayonetta or Christian Whitehead (and Taxman in tow), there’s a Shinobi 3DS or Overkill. They don’t even bother to offer the latter on Android/iOS anymore, and the former never bothered to make the jump.

Sega continuously vows this will change, that they will restaff and resume internal development of core titles. You don’t get more core than HoTD. I can give them a pass for Scarlet Dawn, as Sega at least tapped a studio and team of people that pulled the ripcord from Sega WOW. But… this seems to be more of the same from Sega Europe.

I honestly think SoE fears a loss of power and wants to keep priming the pump. The may remember when SoA ran everything, and see Brexit and Japan calling for insourcing as a brain drain. I just wish we didn’t get stuck with sloppy seconds (repeatedly in the past).

Que the announcement that it will be yet another exclusive for the crappy switch, just like the Panzer Dragoon remakes.

They need to hire Harry Shearer so he can do his Smithers voice for the Goldman role.
