No Sega involvement like with the excellent Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom.
And no Xbox One at all?

    • Jin says:

SEGA was not involved in Monster Boy either, apart from licensing the game. As for the Xbox One, I don’t even know what to say, as sales from those kinds of games on Xbox One are usually abysmal compared to PS4 and Switch (taking Monster Boy as an example, where it sold much more on Switch compared to PS4, and far less on the Xbox One than on PS4).

    • George Banks says:

SEGA was involved with Monster Boy and the Cursed kingdom more than just licensing it, the original creator was even there during development overseeing it as well and you can SEGA’s logo prominently displayed along with LAT.

  2. Centrale says:

Looking forward to seeing more about this! And hopefully it comes to Xbox and PC, too.

  3. Lord Gideon says:

If Sega is not involved, I’m less optimistic it’ll be as good as Monster Boy and Cursed Kingdom, that was bloody brilliant that game.

    • Jin says:

SEGA was not involved in Monster Boy either, apart from licensing the game. It’s the same situation here, and the game will have many of the original developers involved, so no reason to be pessimistic.

  4. Centrale says:

True… and Sega wasn’t really involved in any of the Wonder Boy games aside from publishing them… they were all developed by Westone.

    • Miguel says:

The now owner Ryuichi Nishizawa of Westone has stated that he’d be willing to sell all of Westone to Sega, I’m surprised that Sega hasn’t bought them yet I mean they bought Relic, Atlus you’d think by now.

    • George Banks says:

I thought Westone already was part of SEGA, like they are one of SEGA’s classic 2nd party studios, they’ve published a lot of Westone so much so that Westone may as well be a 1st party SEGA studio.

    • George Banks says:

*Like the studio Technosoft of the legendary Thunderforce games, they were like a 2nd party SEGA company, although SEGA went out of their way a couple of years ago and purchased all of Technosoft, bringing the entire studio in-house and an intrinsic part of SEGA’s 1st party in-house studios.

It seems like most people don’t understand how the licensing process works here, it’s not as simple as Sega just slapping their name on the product, they are involved in every capacity of the development process with an outsourced advisory team, the only difference is that it is not in-house, meaning in Sega’s internal studios, they are outsourced meaning that Sega is still involved but they aren’t on their own home turf.

It’s similar to the Mario & Sonic at the Olympics games series, it’s actually officially a Sega game, but as it has Nintendo IP in it also, Nintendo do has their own advisory committee to oversee the development process, even though Sega still holds the rights and it is their series.

The trailer is kinda disapointing, the background looks bland and the world seems lifeless. I hope it’s still an early beta trailer so many things still could change.
