Catherine Full Body coming to Nintendo Switch on July 7th

Catherine, the cult puzzle game by Atlus, is finally coming to the Nintendo Switch in July 7th. Notably this is the “Full Body” re-release that includes extra content, such as a third love interest in Rin and 5 more endings possible.

Like before, you take on the role of Vincent Brooks, as he gets involved in an affair with Catherine, with the encounter causing Vincent to experience warped nightmares every night. These nightmares play out like a sliding box puzzle, where the objective is to climb to the top of a tower and escape, and doing it fast enough to avoid getting swallowed by the nightmare below.

Catherine Full Body Review – A vintage full-bodied delight with slight sulfites (PlayStation 4)

It’s always pleasing to see a video game that thinks outside the box. Even if it isn’t a masterpiece, the time you had with it would usually stick with you for the rest of your life. That was the feeling I had when I played 2011’s Catherine for Xbox 360. While not perfect, it was impressed how it pulled me into its world. This year’s enhanced version, Catherine Full Body, brings the Stray Sheep bar and crew back with some new faces and features, with an emphasis on a “fuller package”.

Note: We received this game for free from SEGA of America for review purposes.

Catherine: Full Body is set to launch in the Americas and Europe on September 3rd only on PlayStation 4. Who’s picking up a copy?

Catherine Classic available now on PC

After quite a bit of teasing, ATLUS has officially announced that Catherine Classic is available right now on Steam for PC. Originally released in 2011, the action-adventure platformer Catherine gained quite a fanbase. Now, ahead of the release of Catherine Full Body in Japan, the original game can now be played by a whole new audience. You can check out the full press release and screens after the break, and of course the trailer is above.

What do you think of this release? Should ATLUS have waited and given Catherine Full Body a PC release?

Catherine: Full Body to include online battles, new endings and sexy events

CatherineFullBody3rd

We posted earlier today that Atlus revealed a Catherine remake, being titled Catherine: Full Body. One of the new features was a pink haired, “third Catherine”, who is actually named Rin.  You can see her above. We got a few more details on her, according to Weekly Famitsu, she is a pianist at the bar Vicente frequents. She is honest and gentle. Sounds like my type of waifu.

The developer also discussed new features only in this remake including new endings, more animation and even online battles:

Rumor: Atlus working on bringing back popular PlayStation 3 IP

Catherine-HeaderThere where many reasons why SEGA picked up Atlus, personally think one of the reasons was how well they did during the last console generation, especially when you consider the size of the publisher. Its not surprising that Atlus is being rumored as to bringing back a popular title from the PlayStation 3 era.

According to the report, this would be a sequel and/or continuation of the franchise in some sort of way. According to the source, there is also a chance that this could be a port of that PlayStation 3 game with extra content (see Dragon Crown Pro). The source also mentions that this title isn’t a numbered title and didn’t receive any DLC when it came out. Another hint in this report was that the title was teased a few months back.

So, what would the most educated guess be? Catherine! Catherine was a important title for Atlus in the PlayStation 3 era, I remember it was one of their first titles that I actually saw being sold in a store like Walmart and was a massive hit even tho the game was very niche in gameplay. According to Siliconera, a new Catherine was hinted at months ago, the title was popular and it didn’t have DLC. I think its safe to say its Catherine related. But a new game or a port with extra content? What do you want?

Persona 5 ships over 550,000 copies in Japan; new DLC announced

Persona 5

Persona 5 has been a stunning success for Atlus since it’s launch on September 15th just a couple of weeks ago. The company announced at the end of this week that over 550,000 copies of the game have been shipped between PS3 and PS4 editions in Japan.

Let’s put that in perspective for Atlus. Persona 4: The Golden, the PS Vita re-release of the last mainline Persona game, had reached 350,000 units in Japan only after almost 2 years of being available. Clearly, Persona 5 is going to be a monster hit for the company and seriously fill parent company Sega’s coffers this year.

To celebrate this achievement, Atlus has announced it will be releasing two free sets of DLC costumes for players. Hit the jump to see pictures of the cast in their swimsuits and Morgana dolled up like a ram.
