Check out this awesome GameWorks Virtua Cop statue that never became a reality

This exclusive, never before seen, concept sketch comes courtesy of a GameWorks social media employee who recently joined up with the Sonic Stadium forums. Seems a GameWorks topic brought the forum to his attention. As a special treat, the “GameWorks Social Media guy” shared a very special bit of concept art that he describes as “mock-up art of a Virtua Cop statue from way back when GameWorks was only a glimmer in SEGA & DreamWorks’ eye”. This statue never made it to the construction stage, but it is a very cool piece of SEGA, and Virtua Cop, history. You can check out the full sized image here. After the break, his thoughts on SEGA’s split with GameWorks.

Check out some All-Stars Racing Transformed concept art!

Yesterday it was the announcement, preview and podcast. Today: concept art! Thanks to French gaming site console-toi.fr comes a collection of artworks from the Panzer Dragoon and Monkey Ball tracks. They also released a few new screens including a look at the back of B.D. Joe’s vehicle in flight. Fun fact: some screens have a “ASN” label. This refers to the game’s internal name “All-Stars Next”. Check out the concept art, and new screens, after the break!

Sonic 4 Episode 2 Hedgehog Day Reveal: Egg Serpentleaf

To celebrate Groundhog Hedgehog Day, SEGA of America has shared a new piece of concept art from Sonic 4 Episode 2. Is it another badnik? No! It’s our first look at a boss, and an original boss at that! Dubbed the Egg Serpentleaf, the boss appears to be Eggman inside a giant flower that is able to close up and act as a laser. Pretty cool if you ask me! I wonder if the giant flower hints at the stage motif? After the break, more images of the new boss.

SEGA Reveals Sonic 4 Episode 2 Concept Art, Proving They Can Have Original Ideas

Well this is a surprise! SEGA Blog has revealed concept art from Sonic 4 Episode 2, and this time it’s not a palm tree! From the sound of it, each Friday two pieces of concept art will be revealed. One on the SEGA Blog and one on SEGA’s Sonic Facebook page. I have to say, I’m impressed! Sure they’re not jaw dropping, but they’re original. A blue tube thingy and a cute hermit crab badnik. What a nice way to end each Friday, keep ’em comin’ SEGA!

Edit: Now that I look at it, I realize that the blue tube thing is probably that spinning gimmick from Marble Garden. Original? Maybe not, but I loved the sound they made when you bounced on them.
