Sonic the Hedgehog to crossover into Monster Hunter 4G

SonicMonsterHunter4G
Have you ever played Monster Hunter game and thought that there just wasn’t enough Sonic the Hedgehog items in the game? Don’t worry, SEGA and Capcom have you covered with this crossover. You can get more information on Capcom’s Monster Hunter 4G site, this is being listed as ‘DLC’.

This will be a bonus costume and weapon for your Felyne companion in the game, so it isn’t some sort of major crossover. Yep, that sword is from Sonic and the Black Knight. Seems that SEGA still wants to let us know the game exist.

Monster Hunter 4G is the enhanced edition of Monster Hunter 4 and will be released in Japan this fall on the Nintendo 3DS. The game will be released in the West early 2015 as Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

Puyo Puyo Tetris trailer solves the ‘how it plays’ puzzle

We announced that SEGA was planning the ultimate puzzle crossover earlier this week and now we have a trailer (above) of the game in action. Knowing that both Puyo Puyo and Tetris have their own rules, how would SEGA combined them? It seems that one player will be able to play either Puyo Puyo rules or Tetris rules or vice versa.

As far as the trailer go, it is really in the vein of ‘Puyo Puyo’ with bright cheerful tone that reminds us of Puyo Puyo Fever. At TGS SEGA showed off ‘swap mode’ that will have players switching between Tetris and Puyo Puyo games or the option to play Tetris vs Tetris/Puyo vs Puyo. The game is set to release in Japan on the Playstation 3, Playstation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U sometime next year.

Famitsu reveals Puyo Puyo Tetris for Playstation and Nintendo platforms

tetris

Yes, that’s right puzzle fans. The “Mario & Sonic” of puzzle games is coming.

Famitsu reports that a Puyo Puyo Tetris game is due out in 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Nintendo 3DS, and Wii U. This wouldn’t be the first time SEGA has been involved in a Tetris game. In 1989 SEGA developed and published Tetris for the SEGA System 16 and SEGA System E hardware. In 2000 the SEGA Dreamcast saw the release of The Next Tetris, a Tetris title that took advantage of the console’s modem for online gameplay.

Nothing more has been revealed of this unique collaboration, but as soon as we learn more we’ll be sure to share it!

Bayonetta, Rodin, and Jeanne to cameo in The Wonderful 101

tw101_bayo

For the first time, to my knowledge, we’re covering The Wonderful 101 news by way of the reveal that Bayonetta characters Bayonetta, Rodin, and Jeanne have been announced to cameo in the Platinum Games developed and Nintendo published game. Hideki Kamiya, director of Bayonetta and The Wonderful 101, made the announcement at PAX today. What is interesting about this announcement is that this is the first time fully owned SEGA characters from Platinum Games have appeared in a game fully owned by Nintendo. So it’s sort of a SEGA, Nintendo, Platinum Games crossover. No further details have been revealed, thus explaining why I’ve been stretching this little bit of news out to a paragraph length.

Samurai & Dragons gets a crossover with Fate/Stay Night *With other list Sega franchises in card format*

Sega’s Playstation Vita game, Samurai & Dragons, crosses over special guests from the Fate/Stay Night series by TYPE MOON. We have other SEGA franchises represented as cards like the SEGA All-Stars,  Valkyria Chronicles and Shining characters to use during gameplay. Hit the jump for a complete collection of the Fate/Night Stay and the Sega franchises card list.

Pai Chan from Virtua Fighter announced as playable in the upcoming Dead or Alive 5

We went crazy when Virtua Fighter poster boy, Akira Yuki was announced as a playable character in Dead or Alive 5 earlier this year. But we had rumors that he wasn’t the only Virtua Fighter to join the dark side. Today we have confirmation (and screenshots) that Pai Chan will also join Akria Yuki and Sarah Bryant.

Is this the last Virtua Fighter? I hope so, even though I like cross overs, if they continue they might as well call the game Dead or Alive vs Virtua Fighter.

Project X Zone to have 90 voice actors, over 45 songs

Project X Zone has been teasing just how big the game will be. They have confirmed that the game will have 90 voice actors, which lead people to believe there will be at least 90 characters in the full game. Of course this doesn’t mean there will be that many characters, I guess we will have to see how many characters make it to the final roster.

Now another number has been confirmed, over 45 songs will make it into the game. Each character will have a song from their game during battle. If you pair two characters together you will get songs from either character in your team at random.  Also the field map and event music is being pulled from source materiel. Only because this is a crossover title, doesn’t mean there won’t be original music. The developers already stated they are working on some for the game’s scenario sequences. The title song for the game will also be original and is called “Mysterious Project”.

The developers already teased that the next update will be details on the gameplay systems.

Resonance of Fate characters to appear in Project X Zone

Seems that SEGA isn’t going to let the Resonance of Fate franchise die out just yet. In the latest Famitsu magazine (scans above) they confirm that there will be a Resonance of Fate team made up by Leanne and Zephyr. They also revealed other characters from Capcom and Namco-Bandai that will be joining the full game.

  • Alisa and Soma from God Eater franchise (Namco-Bandai)
  • Lei-Lei (aka Hsien-Ko) from the Darkstalkers franchise (Capcom)
  • Frank West from Dead Rising franchise (Capcom)

Seems that the roster will just keep growing and growing at this rate. But do you think that the Resonance of Fate franchise deserves to go first instead of a classic franchise like Phantasy Star?

Rumor: Two More Virtua Fighters to Cameo in Dead or Alive 5

Akira isn’t the only SEGA fighter looking to kick some Tecmo ass. A NeoGAF member claims to have hacked into the Dead or Alive 5 demo code and discovered alternate costume data. This data, in turn, revealed what very well could be the final roster. Given that we’re a SEGA fan site, I’ll skip the Dead or Alive characters and get to the characters we really care about, the Virtua Fighters! Sarah Bryant and Pai Chan will be joining Akira Yuki as crossover guests. Very exciting, if it proves to be true. What do you all think?

Akira and SEGA All-Stars Fighters with Dead or Alive releases September, 2012.

Virtua Fighter gets El Shaddai crossover

[Example: Jean’s title says “Daijoubuda” (It’s okay) and Goh’s says “Mondainai” (No problem). Both popular El Shaddai phrases.]

SEGA and Ignition have struck up a deal for an odd crossover between El Shaddai and SEGA’s successful arcade fighter Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown.

The crossover will have some of El Shaddai’s most known phrases and when the user clears certain conditions in VF, you’ll unlock the phrases as titles (which appear under your character’s picture).

Never heard of the “El Shaddai” franchise, so I did a quick google search. Hey Ignition, this crossover already worked, since you got +1 more person google searching your game.
