3D After Burner II to be delisted from 3DS eShop on December 21st, 2022

M2 has announced that the Nintendo 3DS SEGA 3D Classics title 3D After Burner II will be delisted from the Japanese eShop, along with Sega 3D Fukkoku Archives 3 FINAL STAGE. The delisting is also likely to affect storefronts worldwide, though M2 has not confirmed this. The reasoning? Nothing has been said, but it is likely a licensing issue. Given the eShop will close anyway in 2023, it’s only a few months early, but still worth knowing about so you can grab 3D After Burner II before it’s gone!

ChuChu Rocket! Universe pulled from App Store as three year Apple Arcade exclusivity ends

Fans have noticed that ChuChu Rocket! Universe, the semi-sequel to the Dreamcast puzzle game ChuChu Rocket!, had disappeared from Apple’s App Store. The game, developed by SEGA’s Hardlight studio, was a worthy follow-up to the Sonic Team original, featuring new and returning puzzles, inventive 3D maps, a story mode and a classic multiplayer mode. The game was also exclusive to Apple Arcade, Apple’s pay to play collection of apps which were all free to download and free of any micro-transactions and in-app purchases.

It appears that the game was pulled due to a three year exclusivity window closing, as fans on Twitter have pointed out other Apple Arcade apps that debuted alongside ChuChu Rocket! Universe have also been pulled. If you still have the game installed, it can still be played. However the game cannot be redownloaded if your device offloads apps that go unused.

Atlus published Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth delisted from Western PSN Stores as license expires

If you haven’t bought the digital versions of Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception or Mask of Truth for either PlayStation 4 or Vita, you’re out luck. Atlus has delisted the games without warning because, according to a representative, the license ran out. The games still seem to be up on Steam, but those versions were published by DMM GAMES

While it does suck, it seems the physical versions are priced pretty fairly (Mask of Truth on Vita costs $25 bucks). To be honest both of these titles released in the West in 2017 and haven’t really heard too many people talking about them to the point of actually asking, do you think its worth it for a company like Atlus to update licenses for games that might not be selling so hot? Also shouldn’t these companies give us an advance noticed that these games will be delisted to see if any consumers want to add it to their library?
