Poor Anarchy Reigns. It really got a bum rap this year after Sega went through its restructuring. From being delayed indefinitely, possibly being cancelled to finally having a super-delayed release date of early 2013. All the while, Platinum Games finished the Japanese version with full localization built in for a world wide release. Several Platinum Games fans were outraged that they wouldn’t be able to play the game for another 6-9 months from now. I’m sure there’s a logical and financial reason why they’d make such a delay, but it makes no sense to me.
But why wait? The game is region free on both X-Box 360 and PS3 and is available to import from sites like Play Asia right now! It’ll cost a bit more than if you wait, but if you want one of the best brawling games this generation early, this is the best way to go. Read on to see what you’re missing out on.
IGN will be celebrating the release of Anarchy Reigns by holding a live stream Thursday the 9th of August at 5 PM Pacific time. Platinum Games staff will be playing along with IGN, in addition to answering Twitter-submitted fan questions via Skype.
The live stream will last for one hour and will be viewable on IGN, right here.
Anarchy Reigns was delayed in Western territories to 2013. In the wake of that unfortunate news, Platinum Games had encouraged disheartened fans to simply import the title from Japan, where it was recently released.
I’m really getting sick of opening articles with a rundown of Anarchy Reigns delay in the west, so I’ll keep it short: SEGA delayed the game again and again, it now looks to be coming in 2013, and it pisses me off. To add salt to the wound, Japanese gaming magazine Famitsu reviewed the game, which releases July 5th in Japan by the name of Max Anarchy. What did they rate it? Straight 9′s for both XBOX 360 and Playstation 3 versions. So it appears the game is very, very good. 9,9,9,9 good. So tell my again why SEGA continues to delay the game? Excuse me while I belt out an old chestnut from Doctor Robotnik: “DUMBOTS!!!”
Get your Japanese PSN and X-Box LIVE account going because the Anarchy Reigns AKA Max Anarchy demo is now out! As you can tell in this youtube first impressions video, it has options to put the game in full English including the dialogue, options and subtitles. This is great news for those who wish to import this game since it won’t be at E3 and sadly doesn’t look like it will make it’s way here anytime soon. Can someone tell me why this game does not look like it will be available in the U.S. for awhile if at all when it’s got full localization?!!
Thanks to Substance TV for the first impressions video.
While SEGA West remains silent on Anarchy Reigns, the game continues to get recognition in Japan. Ripped from the latest episode of Platinum Games TV and released to YouTube, the tune is reportedly the theme song for the character Blacker Baron. The tune is titled “Days of Old” by VStylez and is hopefully the first of many awesome tunes. For more information on Anarchy Reigns, hit up Platinum Games official site.
Good news everyone. We begged, we pleaded and it finally happened! Bayonetta joins Jack of Mad World fame and a host of other off the wall characters as a playable fighter in Sega and Platinum Games’ 16 player online beat-em-up Anarchy Reigns!
Which begs the question, who could possibly be next? I’m holding out hope for Sam Gideon from VANQUISH, which is probably my all time favourite 3rd person shooter. (Go buy it!) But I would also LOVE to see Shinobi make an appearance, am I asking for too much? I don’t think so!
Another trailer fresh from Games Com 2011, check out the Anarchy Reigns ‘Multiplayer Anarchy’ trailer. The character designers over at Platinum Games went wild with this game and the combos are stylish and brutal another of Platinum’s calling cards!
The trailer shows off game modes including Death Match (kill everyone), Survival (team up and defeat the horde) and at the end of the trailer what looks like a hint at some kind of Vs. American football style game with weapons! The trailer also shows that you can pick up items and weapons from the battlefield and use them against your enemies! Yet another similarity to Power Stone!
Anarchy Reigns will release in January 2012 for Xbox360 and PS3.
Check it out, two brand new characters have been revealed for Platinum Games’ and Segas’ next new IP, Anarchy Reigns, an online beat’em’up reminiscent of Spike out or even Powerstone.
One of the most interesting things about this game is by far the character designs; usually in games where there are many characters, like fighters and brawlers, you see a lot of less-than-impressive character designs but in Anarchy Reigns there are some really awesome designs which could easily pass for protagonists for their own games.
Above is ‘Durga’ who seems to fall somewhere between comic relief and crazed bad guy. He also has guns on his knees! Hit the jump to check out ‘Garuda’, another great character, a cross between a ‘SHMUP’ ship and a transformer.
Here she is, Mathilda, the newest trailer for the upcoming Anarchy Reigns video game. You might remember her from MadWorld, she was Black Baron’s assistant that always ended up killing him.
Her pimp hand is strong in the trailer, also shows off her weapon of choice, ‘Iron Maiden’.
For our first SEGAbits poll, we asked you if you guys where excited about Anarchy Reigns. Almost half of you (42%) said you guys where excited over the game, 38% stated that they needed more information and 20% didn’t care about the game.
I’m quite surprised at the number that didn’t care about the title. But what can you expect, web is full of haters. Now we have a new poll: How would you improve the Dreamcast Collection? Choices up on the side bar.
