This is Saturn Season 2 is here, with a look at SEGA’s 3D Control Pad

This is Saturn returns after an extended hiatus!

This time, we’re delving back into the world of SEGA peripherals, with SEGA’s 3D Control Pad for the SEGA Saturn. The pad was bundled with copies of NiGHTS into Dreams… and is often something associated closely with the Saturn’s legacy; but has it earned its place as part of the Saturn legend? Find out, as Tracker takes a gander at this old piece of kit.

This is Saturn is a video series created by British teenager Liam ‘TrackerTD’ Ashcroft, aiming to give an alternative and in-depth look at the good, the bad, and the ugly of SEGA Saturn gaming, all whilst maintaining a somewhat strong accent.

First 4 Figures teases their upcoming NiGHTS figure

First 4 Figures has teased this image on their Facebook, giving their fans a small taste of whats to come. If you haven’t heard of First 4 Figures, they make high quality video game figures in limited quantities. They dabble in Nintendo, Capcom and of course SEGA figures. I think my personally favorites are their Skies of Arcadia Vyse figure, Beat from Jet Set Radio, Akria from Virtua Fighter 5, and of course Ryo from Shenmue.

Not only are First 4 Figures known for their quality, but they are also known for their high price tags. Don’t be surprised if this figure goes on sale for over $200 dollars.

Humble SEGA Bundle features Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, NiGHTS and more

SEGA and Humble Bundle have teamed up once again to help charity and sell cheap PC games for the next two weeks. This time around you can get Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed, NiGHTS Into Dreams, the Dreamcast Collection and DLC for Total War: Rome II and Football Manager 2015 for any price you want as long as it’s at least $1. If you pay more than the average amount you’ll also get Empire: Total War, Company of Heroes 2 DLC and other games that will be added to the bundle later on. Then there’s the $12 tier, and if you pay more than that you’ll get the standalone Fall of the Samurai expansion for Total War: Shogun 2. Finally, if you pay more than $50 you’ll get a nifty looking Dreamcast t-shirt.

Aside from this bundle, there are also various other SEGA games on sale in the Humble Store. The most notable deal on there probably being Alien: Isolation for 50% off, however that deal is only for today so you have to be quick. Other games on sale we recommend are The Typing of the Dead: Overkill, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine, Hell Yeah! Wrath of the Dead Rabbit and of course Binary Domain.

SEGA Tunes SEGAbits community spotlight: Brian Corey’s cover of Splash Garden

This week we’re bringing you a special Tuesday Tunes, as we’re featuring the music of a SEGAbits community member! Ungibbed, aka Brian Corey, put together this cover of the NiGHTS into Dreams tune Splash Garden from memory. Pretty impressive if you ask us! Of course, we don’t blame him for getting the tune stuck in his head, as Splash Garden is a stage that Saturn fans have surely played again and again.

Great job, Brian, on this awesome cover! We look forward to hearing more tunes from you in the future. Share your comments for Brian below, or in our dedicated topic in the SEGAbits forums.
