Check out this new multiplayer video feature for Shogun 2:Total War. This video narrated by that quirky guy who’s probably called Mark or Sebastian. It’s been so long since Multiplayer Tutorial Part 1 that I don’t even remember what happened in it. But rest assured that Shogun 2 is a brilliant game and this is worth a watch if only for the commentary from Jeff.

(Boy do I wish he had introduced himself!)

Total War Shogun 2 and Team Fortress 2 Cross Over Announced!

Here is a crazy cross over I never saw happening! Sega have announced a Shogun 2 and Team Fortress 2 cross over to promote the release of Shogun 2 on steam.

This cross over comes in the form of eight in-game items for Valve’s online FPS, Team Fortress 2.

The items will be made available as an exclusive pre-purchase bonus for Steam gamers and also as a separate TF2 item pack. If you’ve already pre-purchased Total War: Shogun 2 on Steam or you do so before release and own TF2, you’ll automatically gain access to these unique items.

Shogun 2 – Dev Diary 2

Some of the lead members of the Total War creation process discuss how they have improved their games over the years, focusing mainly on the changes they brought to the table in the highly controversial Empires game which was the first game to add real time naval battles.

Then the go onto discuss some of their favorite moments in the series, personally mine is simply watching a barrage of fire arrows fill the sky from the safety of my castle wall and rain down on the siege army in a blaze of glory… Mmm fire arrows.

Total War to Get First TV Ads & More.

Sega are clearly very confident in their product when it comes to Shogun 2. Total War: Shogun 2 marks the first game in the series to have adverts/Commercials aired on TV. I think adverts are pretty rare in general for PC exclusive games.

But these aren’t just any adverts; Sega is teaming up with the History Channel for a series of three minute ad break takeovers for a period of two weeks. These ads will run around March 15th which is when the game releases.

Total War is one of the PC’s most successful franchises; it has sold 7.5m units worldwide since the original was released in 2000.
“We are confident that Shogun 2 is well positioned to be one of Q1’s biggest PC performers,” said Sega’s senior product manager Ben Walker.

“This is the first time we have utilized TV for a Total War game and believe our partnership with The History Channel will deliver an as yet untapped audience.”

SEGA have recently released a trailer detailing the aspects of Shogun 2: Total War’s multiplayer. Looks pretty nice if you ask me. Worth a watch…or two.

Total War Presentation, Series History and More

Hey Total War fans, check out this presentation detailing the history of the Total War series as well as showing off some of the newest features in Total War: Shogun 2.

It’s a very interesting watch and worth your time! I mean, did you know that originally Creative Assembly was going to make an RPG based on the Japanese myth ‘Monkey’? No? Me neither. Watch and find out more!

Total War Shogun 2: Campaign Trailer

Sega sure are releasing a lot of great trailers today! Four new Valkyria Chronicles 3 trailers, two must see Yakuza Of the End trailers and now it is the turn of Total War: Shogun 2.

Another game that just keeps looking better, Shogun 2 is set to be the pinnacle of strategy gaming in 2011. With a return to the roots of the series, not only with the setting and era but a return to the sword based combat which made the series so great to begin with. This makes many Total War fans very happy, including myself!

The game has been refined in many areas not least the multiplayer mode which has really been fleshed out for the first time in a Total War game. The Multiplayer section of Shogun 2 could easily be a stand alone game. In multiplayer you build your own general and compete to be the ultimate ruler of Japan, the Shogun! At the end of each month the overall winner is given the golden shogun armour for bragging rights. Only one person in the whole world may wear this per month! Sounds fun!

Total War: Shogun 2 – Battle Report #2

The second ‘battle report’ from Creative Assembly and Sega.

This battle pits Kieran Brigden as the Takeda forces against a computer AI controlled Hojo as it attempts to siege and take his castle. Ingimar Gudmunsson a battle AI programmer on Total War: Shogun 2 is also present to give us a better understanding of how the enemy AI thinks. The battle is set in a crisp snowy Japanese landscape.

Who’ll win?!
I already know, I’ve just watched it.

Shogun 2 – Story Trailer

This game is simply beautiful, if you have yet to check out the Total War series, you are a fool! Do yourself a favour, jump in now.

Shogun 2: Total War boasts a possible 52 thousand units on screen at once. All fighting it out under your command, or that of your enemy. This would be an impressive feet alone, but look at these graphics, particle effects and motion capture battles. You’ll see why Total War has just no competition when it comes to historical RTS games.

Now if only they would make new IPs with fantasy and even sci-fi settings using the Total War engine, they could mop the floor with the competition there too.
