Valkyria Chronicles Remastered hits Nintendo Switch in the West on October 16

The Nintendo Switch has been given the name of a port console, so unsurprisingly we have a upcoming port of Valkyria Chronicles Remastered coming out for the Nintendo Switch on October 16, 2018 for $19.99. And yes, that means I will replay the game once again! SEGA has confirmed that the game will be digital only. This is a pretty good version, you can check out my Valkyria Chronicles Remastered review on the PlayStation 4.

If you pick up Valkyria Chronicles 4 digitally next month, SEGA will be giving you a 25% discount for Valkyria Chronicles Remastered, bringing the total down to $14.99 before taxes. SEGA has also launched a Valkyria Chronicles Remastered website here with more information.

Personally hope that SEGA works with Limited Run Games and squeeze this remastered into their Nintendo Switch line-up they have going. I want ANOTHER physical copy of Valkyria Chronicles Remastered!

SEGA FES 2018: Valkyria Chronicles 1 coming to Nintendo Switch, Valkyria Chronicles 4 for Switch delayed in Japan

More news has come out of SEGA FES 2018, this time relating to the Valkyria Chronicles franchise. It was announced that the original Valkyria Chronicles, which has already released to the PC and PS4 as a remastered rerelease of the PS3 original, would be releasing to Nintendo Switch for ¥1,990. At the moment, the release is only confirmed for Japan this fall through the eShop. No word on a physical or western release.

SEGA also revealed that Valkyria Chronicles 4 has been delayed in Japan to fall 2018. The game was originally planned for the platform in the summer. As an apology to fans, SEGA is offering coupons to Japanese customers who are buying the fourth game that reduces the price of the remaster of the first game to ¥500. No word on if this will affect the western release, but given the west is getting Valkyria Chronicles 4 in the fall already, it is not likely.

Now how about console ports of the second and third games SEGA? 🙂

SEGAbits Round Table: Our Favorite SEGA & Atlus Games of 2016

2016roundtable

Another year is about to close for SEGAbits. Many anniversaries for SEGA franchises happened this year, with SEGA themselves capitalizing on certain ones like Sonic the Hedgehog and Puyo Puyo. On top of this, naturally there were several announcements and game releases from both SEGA and Atlus. Some of which were what we expected, and then there was some that caught people off guard, like the return of the fan favorite Daytona USA. But are you curious as to what some of the writer’s own favorite titles are for 2016? Here at SEGAbits we decided to ask this question to the writers for a year-end round table!

Valkyria Chronicles Remastered “Europa Edition” European exclusive revealed

europaedition

While Americans are confirmed to be receiving the Squad 7 Armored Case when Valkyria Chronicles Remastered releases May 17th to the Playstation 4, Europe has their own exclusive. Dubbed the Europa Edition, the package includes all previous DLC as well as an exclusive double sided A3 poster and a 32 page booklet containing franchise art. SEGA Europe seems to have changed their decision on the Squad 7 Armored Case. Initially the special case was said to be releasing to Europe, but details on where to get it were vague. Now, all SEGA Europe trailers for the game only mention the Europa Edition. It’s possible SEGA Europe decided to go with the poster and art book instead, or that the special case will still release in Europe but only at a select retailer. If we learn more, we’ll be sure to news it!

SEGA releases new Valkyria Chronicles Remastered trailer, game set for a May 17th release in Americas and Europe

SEGA’s upcoming Valkyria Chronicles Remastered has a new trailer, and even more importantly release dates for the Americas and Europe! In the above trailer, SEGA highlights the fundamentals of warfare in the game, including the “BLiTZ” Tactical Battle System which combines turn-based strategy, RPG, and 3rd person shooter elements – basically all the reasons we love the franchise so dearly. Pre-order your copy of Valkyrica Chronicles Remastered today and mark May 17th on your calendars.
