Title: What is your favorite type of cheese?
Post by: 3raser on June 30, 2013, 02:43:50 am
If you were eating it by itself, of course. I just wanted to try different types, so that I could determine which one was my favorite.

I haven't tried many cheeses, but mozzarella. It's a light cheese and I like that. Good for all sorts of salads too.

Cheddar is always great, IMO. as long as it's not that cheap stuff with that smooth texture, i like cheddar with rough texture, although if it's going to melted it doesn't matter to me either. I just don't like biting into cold a sandwich and getting the smooth almost slimy feeling in my mouth.

I like other cheese too, as long as it isn't spicy. I just cant think of their names lol. Like the cheese used on pizza, and the powdery cheese used on spaghetti. and yeah

It's gotta be pepper jack for me.

@Will

My quoting function sucks right now, it's probably my browser, but the cheeses you're thinking of are Mozzarella (on pizza) and Parmesan (on spaghetti). Some people use different cheeses on pizza and pastas, of course, but those are the popular ones

Most of these are very common. Except applejack. That's a new one on me. I wish there was a way that I could sample just about every cheese at one time to determine which is the best.

I like cheesy chips too!

Believe it or not, I actually don't like to eat the chips at Mexican restaurants. This is because I do not want to spoil the meal. If I do end up eating the chips afterwards, then I usually have cheese dip with the chips. What kind of cheese do they normally use for that?

Nacho cheese?

There's also Wendsleydale, Red Leicester, Blue Cheese (which is made with Copper wires through it) and I believe a cheese from France that smells of dog shit (smells awful, tastes so good!).

There are more which I know but I forget the types.

Nacho cheese isn't really proper cheese, but manufactured to taste like the stuff.

I do recommend Halloumi cheese though, it's so smooth it even makes squeaking noises when it rubs against your teeth! (It's made in Cyprus) "It has a high melting point and so can easily be fried or grilled. It is noted for its ability to retain its shape under direct heat, or as a "grillable" cheese." It's nicer grilled.

Oh yeah, I talk to someone online who works at the Blue Stilton factory at Melton Mowbray.

Too many to count. I do enjoy a nice sharp irish chedder, or a gooey cheese mixed with a jelly and nuts. As a kid I loved pepper jack. I guess I'm all over the place. I like the stinky cheeses just as much as the very tame ones. Depends on the mood and situation.
